Ammo, The one right tool.

How many of you Fellas (Gals) have settled on the one right projectile for a particular gun, I read a lot about the constant testing of this pellet or that S/word at this speed or that, and it is all interesting information,

But I assume many here have found a match they are happy to stick to ( supplies permitting )

If so, what is it.

Ammo?, Gun?, Speed?,

Edit, And use, hunting, plinking, comp, ect.

Thanks,

Good luck.

December 2019 I got an order of JSB Hades, .25 cal to try in my FX Royale 500. I mainly hunt/pest so I was hoping they would be a good long range load for that gun. Turns out that they are the most accurate pellet I've ever seen in that particular gun. IF I were a competition shooter I would continue to use them. They are the ONLY pellet that I've used since then in the Royale. Tried the .30 Hades in my FX Boss also. They're just OK in that one but the JSB, 44.75 gr. Diabolo are a more accurate pellet in my Boss. The Royale shoots around 880fps & the Boss at around 876fps. Those are my only 2 guns & those are the pellets of choice for them. Hope that helps.

JSB Kings in my Cricket at about 890 fps are awesome

NSA 24.8 grain .218 in my .22 Impact (slug liner 700mm) at 950 fps are fantastic out to 200 yards

NSA 27.5 grain .217 is slowly earning the title in my new Crown MK2. At 895 fps it is shooting very nice groups at 25, 50 and 100 yards. The groups so far are averaging .486” at 50 yards and .988” at 100 yards. And I’m still tuning and testing so it may get even better. There are also a couple of “Wow!” groups in that mix including a .201” at 25 yards, a .283” at 50 yards and my favorite is a .646” at 100. When I’m finished with my current testing I plan to start a thread covering my new Crown and the NSA slug that is performing very well.

.25 isnt cheap in any flavor but exact kings are consistent in my mrod so thats what it eats ... everything in 22 and 17 gets premeirs, prefer domes but hp's are more available ... they may not be the absolute ideal for every gun, but i tune and sight the guns to work the best 'with them' ... that works out best costwise AND i know where im at sticking with those which is much more effective in real spontaneous situations than jcking off with 20 different rainbow fruity colors and weights of pellets with no idea where they shoot at various ranges ...

JSB 13.73 in .20 caliber .... likely due to low production numbers the factory has only a single or a couple dies .... ALWAYS consistent & always lights out accurate shot at @ 800 fps threw an HW choked barrel on a RAW TM-1000. Lot after lot all shoot the same and have for many years now. Love it !!!!!!!!!!

Our FT club has a BAM 50 loaner gun and it just loves Crosman Boxed Domes from DIE A dated 2004 ( Have @ 3 1250 count boxes stashed away ) so we're set for years.

All else I don't really sweat it much being correctly sized quality pellets threw quality barrels at correct speeds generally do quite well.

Well maybe not just one but four for my Gen1 Impact-x with a .25 700mm slug A liner.

The slugs will often shoot near .5 MOA at 100 yards at 740 and 960fps.

The JSB pellets do sub-MOA now and then.

NSA 33.5 HP, 36.2 HP

Varmint Knocker 34gr HP

JSB 33.5gr have done insanely good when conditions allow.

JSB 18.13 for the .22 Superior and 18.13 and 15.89 for the .22 STX Impact liners.

All my .177 guns are tuned for Jsb heavy. So regarding pellets I buy thouse, or the same pellet rebranded by other companies. Fx bobcat, Fx wildcat mk2, taipan veteran, airgun technolgy vulcan 2. All those shoot that pellet good. The taipan, and bobcat required adjusting reg, for optimal accuracy, while the AGT was almost perfect out of the box for that pellet. All guns shooting between 830-890 fps.

That's a hard question.

Since most guns are not adjustable, the only adjustment you have is the pellet brand / model. If your gun is in that category, yes, I'd say you need to look around until you find a pellet that works.

If your gun has the adjustments (Marauder, Avenger, Impact or whatever), you have flexibility. I started shooting the 14.3 gr Crosman Hollow points from my Impact a couple weeks ago. I had to adjust the power level down, but they shoot quite well at one particular setting at 75 yards. For the JSB 18.3's, they shoot well at the next power setting up.

So many other things effect (affect, whichever is correct) the accuracy of the gun. Like, same session I started shooting the Crosman's, I switched from bipod to bags. Suddenly it's shooting an inch to the right. Not sure what happened, but it occurred when I switched to bags. Weird.
