Aluminum for pellets or slugs?

A few reasons why the use of aluminum is unlikely:
- Aluminum is harder than lead, but also than tin and zinc, which are already lead-free substitute materials. An Aluminium projectile wouldn't engage the rifling properly (if at all).
- Current production equipment (swaging machines) could not deform Aluminium easily, and turning would be very expensive
- In addition, the barrel wear would be increased immensely.
- Hollow point bullets for hunting would not mushroom.
- The penetration capabilities would make it suspicious to our law makers (just a personal thought...).
- Because of the much lower density and the associated higher speed, the twist rates of the current barrels would not fit, and the projectiles would easily get supersonic.

Just my two cents...

Best regards
