Altaros or Hills EC3000

Hello guys i am new to this forum..

I want to buy compressor for my airgun.. I dont have portabillity problems as i use it for targeting only in my garden. ( if i want i have a dive bottle 5lts that i can fill)

So generally till 1000euros i see that two of the best solutions are Altaros and Hills EC3000.. what would you say for both pros and cons?

i want something without problems generally and not much maintenance!

Hill. No additional filtration or first stage compressor necessary. Faster Filling. Easy for an owner to service. Manufacturer has been in business longer and has an excellent reputation for support. Less work to set up for each fill. Newer technology. Hill weighs 54 lbs. vs.10 for the Altaros. The Hill is more compressor for your money. This is an easy choice.

As i am reading and watching videos i undestand thats this is like apples to oranges... But the Hills is new and i dont see a lot of reviews and thats why i am asking ...

generally i want a good product without problems.

You’re right regarding “”apples to oranges”.

I have the Hill, but only used it once so far to make sure that it works before the warranty runs out. I have too many hobbies and airguns are currently at the back of the line at the moment.

The Hill is nice having the digital read out, but initial reviews have been mixed. Some have been having problems. The Alteros seems to work similar to the Shoebox. A lot of people have praised the Shoebox. But yes, the Alteros requires a compressor..

For hills i saw some problems at the first units that a screw was without loctite and a firmware update from 2.11 to 2.12!!



I have a dive bottle but here that I live I cannot fill more than 200 bars

When I was solely dependant on tanks that were only limited to 225bar my 2000psi Benjamin Discovery and 1500psi MAC1 USFT with the huge tube had lots of use. The Benjamin Maximus is also 2000psi fill gun.

I would recommend the Hill based on your user requirements. Plus they are there to help you with any questions/issues you might have. Unlike a lot of other companies that don't even bother to reply back to you or answer the phone when you call.

You made the right choice. Altros does not honor their warranty. They will give you email support and maybe some o-rings or an in-expensive part but if you experience a major failure you are on your own. Search my threads if you want to know more.

Well, I have been using the Altaros for a long while now. Works great, albeit slow. Way I see it, I want more people to but the Hill though. This way all the kinks get worked out and first hand reports of reliability are stablished. If it proves as reliable as my Altaros, I’d get me one for sure.
