Has anyone confirmed Altaros claim of .21 ballistic coefficient? I saw one thread about using them in a fx superior heavy liner but no results and the thrad went silent. Just wondering if its worrth it to buy the relatively expensive ammunition

I guess it depends on what your gonna be using the ammo for. But the Altaros is not that much more expensive! Actually, less expencive as some. There currency = 1.05 US tender. I ordered some to try,but haven't received them yet. I'll probably check then B.C if they are accurate.

Might really well be true. He dose shoot them fairly slow on optimal speed where you get higher BC factor number. BC isnt fixed number it actually changes with speed, barrel, temperature etc so on so on.

I understand that, but the Boat Tail slugs that you can currently buy (ZAN .25 cal. 46 grain for example) have a higher BC than flat base or dish base, but not an order of magnitude better. The ones I tried were about 0.150, but they weren't as accurate as the 43.5 grain NSA FB slugs.

Some slugs do lose aerodynamics at higher speeds! but that not set in stone either. NSA 36.2 gr has a good B.C at around 940. Push it to 1041 & it lost steam quickly.
Not sure the BT design of the Altraros is much help at subsonic speed! But IMO, the rounded nose should be.

I ran 2 test on the Altaros 49.5 gr slug. 5 shot average was taken from both muzzle & 55 yrds & came up with a BC of .198 for the first test & .202 for the second test.
I'm pushing these in the 970 fps range, so your results may vary. They shoot very accurately from the Condor. I like em!

I feel like they would be better as a rarget round than hunting since its a round nose design and wont dump as much energy into quarry. The one boat tail style ive tried is very innacurate in all the rifles and barrels/liners iv shot them out of

I agree! these are designed for target. But, if they are accurate enough, the energy transfer becomes less of a issue as far as hunting performance.
The Condor ( though not a target rifle) seems to really like these @ 55 yrds! I'm gonna test further after I install my scope level. Beyond 55 yrds, scope cant becomes a big accuracy concern when your scope is 3.616 above the bore.
I would be interested to see what B.C others are getting from this slug.
