Almost perfect conditions all weekend to test slugs with the 22 red wolf

I figured I would take some pictures of my best cherry picked groups, before tossing them in the round file.

I would guess I probably shot 150 groups this weekend. All of them at 187 yards.

I had available every single size of NSA slugs that come in 22 caliber. All of them shot really well, the flat base slugs did not perform quite as well.

The 32 grain were the most consistent, but no tiny groups. Surprisingly, I have shot my smallest groups with the 20 grain. However they don’t shoot well in the wind.

I was physically and mentally exhausted at the end of both days.

The best groups of the weekend:

It’s interesting nothing shoots more accurately than the 20.2g slugs. I’ve seen other get great results with them too. Obviously BC alone is not the only important factor in accuracy. I think they are just very stable.
I swag my own slugs and after a lot of testing I’ve found 22.8g work best in my RW. I can alter the weight easily and the 22.8 shoot better than the 23g and 20.2. My guess is slightly high bc than the 20.2 with it superior stability.
You could ask Nick at NSA to make you up some 22.8.

By first time I mounted my target at 120 yards.

I shot with the Daystate Wolverine HP .25 and then with the Bantam Sniper HR with LW poligonal barrel.

The result is nothing to be proud of.

Surprisingly the Bantam groups were better. And more in the same vertical line.

I expected more from the Daystate. Here is the group with the Wolverine after finding how to compensate:

The following is the group with the Bantam:

I’m honestly not sure if I shot that card with pellets or slugs. The holes look pretty rough, so may have been pellets. I had one really good lot of pellets, four tins. After that, nothing I have bought shoots nearly as well.

The other targets I posted I know were with slugs.

I know I shot in the 230s a few times with pellets, And in the 240s a few times with slugs.

Honestly that format doesn’t really work for me at 100 yards with pellets. They’re just not consistent enough.

To each his own, I would much rather shoot at 2 to 300 yards with slugs if I had the opportunity. I enjoy shooting little groups.

I stopped shooting with the Batam al 120 yards because I was not able to see where I was hitting. And started to get angry.

When I came to change the target I found this:

LOL! I learned the hard way. Better Scope! I can see bullet holes with my lowly 14 max power Zeiss that I cannot see at 24 x with my other highly respected scope. It's all in the resolution in quality of the lens.😉
