Almost forgot how to shoot my FX Crown

Hello everyone,

I have been shooting my Pistols indoors for so long that I almost forgot how to shoot a Rifle 🤔 . Shot Pistols indoors early this morning for about 7 hours and the sun came out so I got the FX Crown MK II dusted off and then loaded the magazine. Set up the 10-meter range with a Target and took quite a few shots to get it zeroed in as you can see on the target 😵. But as they say, it’s just like riding a bike and you never forget. Boy does that feel good with the weight and feel of the stock and the positive feel of the trigger. After wiping the dust off the Crown and some off of me, I was able to get lucky and shoot a perfect 250 score. Then the sun went behind a cloud and it started to rain so that ended the outdoor shoot 😦, back into the shop.

It's a beautiful day here in Missouri, was out sighting in my new 2260 pcp/1720 barreled rifle build and something about hand loading every shot gives more to the enjoyment of shooting. You take your time and focus on your breathing and trigger pull vs just racking the bolt and blasting away.

Hello @Boostcreep

Yep I understand, all of my rifles and pistols except the Crosman 1701P have magazines. I wish the Crosman had a magazine because I am old, shaky, bad close up vision and big ole fat fingers. Getting that little .177 Wadcutter in the breech and under the scope is quite the challenge for me, but it is like you stated, it slows down the quick fire and probably adds to better sighting of the target.

I'm right there with you. If I don't have good lighting it's a chore to get those 177 pellets loaded and facing the right direction :ROFLMAO:

I have fat mechanic hands and my vision is finally starting to slip. I got lucky, everyone in my family needs contacts or glasses since they were young, I had 20/20 for the longest time. Just close up small stuff is getting a little fuzzy!

Hey again @Boostcreep

When I am shooting the 1701P I wear a pair of single focus ( like reading ) glasses to see the pellet and then peer over the lens to look through the scope. Not the most comfortable way to shoot but I do what I need to do :p

If you have FX mags, I present to you……magic!

Obviously doesn’t help with single loading guns, which is why I haven’t shot my 1720T hardly at all.

Holy Shnikies, Thomas. I only see one pellet in a couple of those bulls! Did you miss the paper entirely? 😅🤣😂🤪
Now I got to go show you up. Think I'll shoot flies today.

Super nice shooting ThomasT! Looking just about perfect. I envy your weather, we are getting snow and cold here again.
Single loading .177 pellets is hard, especially the wad cutters! My left arm has nerve damage and it’s really hard to control something that tiny between two fingers! I shoot my 1701P from the recliner a lot, and I can tell you there’s a lot of dropped pellets down in the cushion lol!

Hello @davelarson

Oh Dave those photos make my poor ole bones hurt all over. I guess I will have to build a Bunkhouse so that you and @rsfrid and all of my other North Snowbound forum friends can come and spend the winter down here. I will also build a 50-yard indoor shooting range so that not even some of our "liquid sunshine" can stop us from shooting. Would't that be a hoot , in fact that would be a hoot -n- a half 🤠

I set up my 10-meter target with a pair of slippers on, cargo shorts and a t-shirt today. I suppose you have those stored away in the corn crib.

Think positive Dave and maybe next year you will not have to worry about snow.

Please take care and stay warm my friend,

Thomas, fantastic shooting and you are too good of a Marksman to not remember how to shoot a rifle! Ha!
Hello @Ranchibi

Well it has something to do with being 81 years old, 🤪 and maybe a loose wire here and there.

You're on Thomas! 50 yards indoors would be a hoot! I'm shooting with slippers on, but I have long cargo pants and fleece jacket indoors in basement. It's a steady 64 degrees in basement. 🥶

Hello @rsfrid

I'm not trying to be mean, but honestly I do not see how anybody can live and operate in weather like that. Around 68 degrees is my absolute low temp limit, anywhere lower I just close the blinds, turn on all the lights and watch some of my old videos when I was living on my boat down in the Islands. Yes, I know that is the "chicken's" way out but all I have to say about that, is cluck, cluck.🐤🐣🐥

Funny. Up here, we'll be going around in shorts when the weather gets in the 50s outside. There are actually some people who enjoy strapping long thin slats of fiberglas and wood to the bottom of their stiff funny looking boots and sliding really fast down a hill. I tried that when I was way younger and my legs bent at the knees and nearly killed myself! These strange ones literally cry when all the snow goes away andvthe ground thaws out! 😅🤣😂🫢
