....... i relapsed ! seems those under $100 airguns just pile up around us, huh ? -- but -- those hatsan edge (striker 1000, webley vmx) rilfes shoot pretty hard. i have found that the .22 cals produce the most killing power , and generally shoot 765+ fps with 14.3 grainers. i have a .22 vmx xs (extra silent) that shoots 804 fps with benjamin destroyer pellets (14.3 gr). this is also the same power frame as the daisy powerline 1000 and the webley jaguar . in .177 , i was getting around 960 fps with 8 grainers . this gun does well in .25 also - 645 fps with 20 grainers. ......there was an aftermarket trigger guy in brittian for this gun - welch willie , but he quit messing with them because hatsan changes things around a lot which makes aftermarket parts difficult (folks say this is good because hatsan actually listens to customers and and makes steady design improvements) . i bought the last 6 welch willie triggers he had when i was tuning the .20 cal webley vmx rifles , another version of the hatsan striker 1000 or edge........ they do really well in .20 if you can find one. i thought those .20 vmx rifles would do better when i proposed this to webley.usa . it was right after crosman quit making sheridans and the $170 retail for a .20 air rifle made it the cheapest way to get into 5mm / .20 cal ... after webley dumped their backstock to a place in georgia, i was able to purchase a few cases of the .20 cals at $55 for each rifle. .....i think it's the mainsprings hatsan uses - very strong. we shot the heavy .177 silver arrow pellets with good results in those daisy powerline 1000 rifles (the most powerful thing daisy has put their name on as far as i know). i usually straighten out that curly-q trigger blade in a vise, grind off the extra length so it'll fit in the trigger guard, and use one of those radio control car wheel bearings, or the bushing for the same which is a mm shorter. sometimes the bearing is a bit too tall and makes for a dangerous hairline trigger. - rane on.
