All Things PARD Night Vision & Thermal Optics - Master Thread

Here are my thoughts. The Night Stalker 4K has a CMOS chip that does 4K but that means nothing when the display resolution is 800x800! The point is to have clarity when you are looking at it. The PARD NV008SP2 is 1440 x 1080 - a lot better! Both suffer from limited zoom, so close up work is difficult with both. I say this as I have 4 PARD scopes, so I'm speaking from 1st hand knowledge. The Hikmicro 4k Alpex LRF (which is really hard to get in the USA) has the best display resolution of the bunch at 1920 x 1080 that will really start to work on one being able to use a digital scope in the daylight versus at night 90% of the time. It's about what you see in the scope, not what the chip is capable of resolving! My thoughts - YMMV

@Hal4son That's true, but the display resolution is what you see when shooting. It's pretty tuff getting fine resolution that is good for everyone's eyes at that small a surface - I'm not downplaying that aspect. I'm not discussing the alignment of the crosshairs at all. I'm simply going by the overall resolution of what you see when you view the screen in the scope. It's no different than your PC or smartphone screen... the higher the resolution, the finer the image display on the screen and when shooting that is paramount - to me at least!

@RangerPete That sounds like excellent customer service. Are they an authorized Pard service center or simply a distributor? May as well out their name out there for your fellow countrymen.
Hi Ezana4CE,
Ja, as PARD_Tech has said it’s Fraser at Owl Optics here in New Zealand. I’ve always had good service from him.
I would sure love to try the new DS37 4K.
There are only about 4 or 5 small things I feel they could improve with the DS35, other than that the only other way to improve it was slightly higher magnification and better image quality which it seems the DS37 has (not that there is anything wrong with the image quality of the DS35, but you need to keep up with technology and competitors).

DS37 image is outstanding! Even zoomed in to 14x the image does not pixilate.

@PARD_Tech I'm confused regarding the magnification on the unit I've received. Specs state Optical Magnification of 2/3/4.5x (depending on Objective Lens 50/70/100). My DS37 is showing lowest magnification of 7x in the viewfinder display. The FOV and magnification visually appear to be similar to the 008s 6.5x optical magnification. Can you clarify which model I've received? If there is a lower magnification available in this optic, how do I get that lower magnification to propagate?

ETA- In the menu, I can select from two default magnifications. ie. 7x or 14x

Sticker on the box indicates- MODEL: Night Stalker 4k SKU:NS4-70/850/LRF SN:8-03122419054

Here is a problem I have been having with my DS 35 50:
While using the scopes ballistic rangefinder, the impact mark is showing in reverse on my crosshairs. Meaning that when I look through the scope and range the target the "X" impact mark will be above the center of the crosshairs when viewing the target, but when played back on video the "X" is below the center of the crosshairs, The second picture is showing the correct location of the holdover “X”. @PARD_Tech sent me a firmware update to try to correct it, but it hasn’t worked with the update he sent. Waiting to hear from him again to see if there is a more recent update. Anyone else experiencing this?

Shooting and video are still not in the same reticle ?

@PARD_Tech I just saw some details of the recent ds37 firmware update. Can we confirm that the zoom has been increased to 4x (above base mag) on all models? ie the 70mm now zooms to 22.4x? That would probably make it a must buy for me!

@PARD and @PARD_Tech....Similar request here for the DS35.....can we get a firmware upgrade to get 22.4x for the DS35? The fact that max magnification is 11.2 is the only reason why it's currently not mounted on any of my guns. Get me some 22.4x and I'll be sharing Pdog footage all summer, and that would even get me enough mag for recording some Ultimate Field Target action.
