All Smacks Are Not Created Equal !

I have PCP guns in .22 and PCP guns in .25.

The last few weeks or so I have been using my .25 cal Condor, (one of a few) The hits I have had (all in the 45-60 yard range) been pretty much a very loud SMACK and the game is knocked down and OUT !!. With my .22, it is not the same ...oh it hits hard, but no where near as hard. if you know what I mean.

My .25 is getting a good 58 fpe at 30 yds (JSB KH's at ~965) - my .22 is getting 36 fpe, (Kodiaks at ~1000+fps, just chronographed it again today). I'm using 30 yards because my GS I hit today was at the range. He was hit in the low neck body junction (where I aimed), he was facing my right ... pellet smacked him but did not appear to penetrate thru and thru, It may have hit bone and ricocheted in the body ? He was standing over his hole and he made it 1/2 body length in .... DOA when I got there.

I have hit a few pests with the .22 Condor or .22 Career and .22 hits very hard, but the results are no where near my .25 Condors or .25 Sumatra. All my .22 and .25 cal are using heavy for caliber ammo and all pushed out at very high speeds .. so it is pretty much .22 cal vs .25 cal in what PCP guns I have.

I'm quickly becoming a major believer in .25 for powerful PCP guns, don't get me wrong .22 is great but .25 really does have the Smack when you have the power to drive the heavy pellet.

I don't even use the heavy pellets in my Wildcat 25 and the smacks on squirrels are devastating. I just got one of those fairly heavy metal spinner thingies. The one where you shoot the four small spinners and they flip up and stop, then you shoot the central large target and the four small ones drop down. The steel on those things is 1/4 inch. Pretty solid and I'm shooting them at 50 yards. The WC flips those things like they've been shot with a 22 long rifle.

My buddy who is a spokes person for Airforce should be expecting his 30 Texan next month or so .. I will give it a good going over .. I want to see how loud it is with the 34" barrel and no shroud ! I'm really not loving anybodies shroud for this gun at the present time, they are all UGLY. I really want R&L to make a better looking shroud as the one they have and TT has does not look refined to my eyes at all.

I will be ordering some 25 cal slugs too, so maybe that will be a game changer for the .25 and bigger critters ? Must admit though the 34gr JSB's when moving in the 950+fps area hit like a truck !!

I am casting 48 gr hollow point and 50 gr flat nose as well as 54 gr round nose 25 caliber pure lead slugs and they work quite well in my Condor.

The first 2 are from a NOE mold using a Bobs Boat tail design made specifically for Air Guns and the last from an old Lyman mold for .25 ACP.

I plan to test them in my Marauder, Cricket and JKHan Noblesse Rifle (when I get it) as well.

I will very much be looking for your testing.

I tested Eun Jin 43gr pellets today and easily was getting ~935+ fps out of my Condor. That is some serious energy at 60yds (about 62fpe) ... man alive do they hit hard at that range !

Went out again and shot some more 43gr Eun Jin's, at the average speed of 935fps for Coyote hunting practice. When shot out of a powerful PCP, at high velocity (900)+ these are capable I think of downing some pretty large for airgun varmints. I'm getting another 13 fpe at all my shooting ranges and with an airgun 13 fpe extra is quite a bit !

The one thing I did notice is that the .25 cal 43gr Eun Jin pellets seem softer than the JSB King Heavies ...... has anyone found this to be true ? just asking ?

Yea, The Eun Jin 43gr's have ~83fpe at the muzzle out of my gun and the JSB 34gr have a bit over 70fpe. I'm comfortable at 50-60 yds a head shot on a YOTE would be enough. I will try for around a 40-50 yd shot.
