... Alaska fishing trip booked ... ground squirrel hunting maybe

Apparently there's no season or bag limit on GS in Alaska, hmmm. I thought it was gonna be an Arctic Grayling fishing trip with a lot of Kodak wildlife moments but I may need to bring more than rods.

Do I bring a .44mag or an air rifle? Tough decisions, Ha Ha.

The thought of bears and me fishing may make the decision easier.

Don’t worry about the bears, just give them plenty of room for whatever fishing spot they want. And a .44 mag will just make them MAD!!!

Johnny, CONGRATULATIONS! Artic grayling! Woo Hoo! One of the most beautiful fish ever! Well...Brown bears...I think elephant gun...LOL! Just be safe and have a blast catching grayling and shooting Alaskan GS's! Oh, and do take many kodak moments to share please!

I found the best way to deal with the bears is to bring several cans of sardines one for each day of your expedition. I eat the sardines but save the juice to pour on my buddies pack... always worked for me!!!

Great strategy! I wonder if the buddy is going to be carrying bacon in an outside pocket as well?

I am planning, planning, planning. Don't wanna be burdened with gobs of gear, been there done that, so I am gonna make it a stealthy entrance, kill and exit.

Here's the crazy part... I am considering carrying ONLY telescoping rods and micro to small reels. Done it before and all fits into a hip pack, tackle and all.

Grayling under a bobber and flies, we'll see.

9mm is what I've got for streamside but looking at a .480 hand cannon (just an excuse to buy something).

Oh yeah! Light outfits are the shizzle for trips! Telescoping rods and tiny reels should be so fun with graylings! I luv fishing bobbers and flies/nymphs/tubes/teasers! That is the BEST excuse or reason the purchase a .480! You and your wife are going to have so much fun! Excited for you!

It's possible that we see a great stream or lake, or several, get out of the car, walk to stream and are immediately covered with black flies and skeeters and that ain't gonna work so I am prepared with bug juice, total clothing, head net and tequilla.

Whole Lotta don't know but we always have several backup plans.

I know you'll be fully prepared! I have been using eucalyptus spray for bugs (ie sand flies) because it smells better than deet! LOL! Oh...I know she'll put all the boys to shame with your help and catch a lunker!
