Benjamin akela not cocking and low power

anybody having problems with the cocking lever getting stuck or losing power?
this could be your problem.
-open up the top rail of the cocking lever and take a look inside. you might have a pellet stuck in there.

-for loss of power. you might also have a pellet or two between the hammer and poppet valve pin. i found all these slugs smashed around the pin, acting like a shim and stopping the hammer from fully opening the valve.. i suspect it’s my doing by not seating the slugs/pellets fully into the magazine before shooting them. i may have also done this when i had to unjam a pellet from the muzzle with a stick and may have popped the pellet into the space where the pellet probe retracts into when cocked.

don’t be like me 😅 i couldn’t find anything online about this so i hope it comes in handy for a future shooter of this platform. shoots!

Keep in mind, it has nothing to do with seating tye slugs as you do not do that in their magazines. Try to not cock the gun while you have it tilted up, if you, just make sure to cock it fast and not slow to prevent it from falling backwards.

I also fell victim to this quirky mishap. Called Airgun Revisions with the issue and Rich quickly diagnosed the “won’t cock” mention before i was even done explaining. He also gave me the same exact advice on keeping the muzzle as level or down as much as possible. It’s an inherent design flaw in the OE magazine cover. With the elongated hole it can/does allow the pellet to fall out sometimes. I imagine CARM has eliminated that issue, but I don’t have his magazines for mine yet. Rich had printed some prototype replacement covers that did the job. I don’t know if he has more or not. As far as that goes, I don’t know if they were ever made available for purchase.

This is actually a very common problem with these guns because the magazines will not hold the pellet in place from time to time. The fix is to use aftermarket magazines, and you will not have this issue going forward. We have the Carm mags here, but you can use maple or whoever that has an exterior O-ring holding the pellets in.

I've had it happen to mine twice and I'm using Maple mags and also shooting from a rest so the rifle is never tilted back. I am puzzled how it happens
