Airgun Transportation in Truck?

Since I lost my Jeep Grand Cherokee on the 4th I've been trying to source a new vehicle capable of transporting my airguns and equipment around. Before I was simply using the backseat. Ideally I'm going to try and replace it with an extended cab 4x4 truck, but if that doesn't work I need to figure out a safe way to do it with a standard cab.

Does anyone think a bed mounted locking toolbox is acceptable for storing air rifles? Can moisture if it is an issue be combatted with moisture absorbers of some kind?

if your gonna try ding something like that for storage if you find something big enough to hold a good sealed riffle case then water and moister wouldn't be an issue and you'll have you gun double protected from bumps and elimates as long as its a pretty good fit

a buddie of mine has a liner case idk if he built it of bought it but it has 2 compartments on that fit my riffle had case and his when we go up into the maintains and I've never had an issue hope that helps

I have some very nice Plano cases that are too small for a Marauder, so a BT65 definitely wouldn't fit. But anything smaller shouldn't be an issue. It's sealed, air/dust tight. The problem with those cases isn't keeping moisture out, but rather dealing with the moisture that's trapped inside. You need to remember to include some of those packets that come with various products to absorb moisture inside the case.

Bed mounted tool boxes tend to collect dirt etc. The aluminum ones even make their own oxide dust if you keep metal tools in them. Even with a high quality air tight gun case is not the answer. The outside of it will get filthy as will your hands when you handle it. You should be able to fit a single cased gun behind the seat of a standard cab truck.

The search is over. I settled on an old 1995 GMC 4x4 club cab pickup until my Jeep is roadworthy again. A family friend that owns a collision shop with the proper frame straightening rack has offered to straighten the frame. After that its up to me to scavenge the rest.

So once again my airguns have a nice controlled environment for transport. In the purchase was a nice steel bed mounted toolbox I can use to store my spinner targets and silhouette targets. With some luck maybe I'll be back up and pesting on my permission in a week.
