Airgun Scopes?

As an older gentleman, I pondered this same thing. All my rim fires have nothing but old school scopes like Nikon, Leopold, BSA, and even some all steel weavers.

When PCP took it's grip and I fell victim and started researching......never heard of one single scope in the various articles.

Long story short I ended putting a cheap Optima scope on a Hatsan flash, don't like the scope.

Rather than changing out the scope I opted to just purchase more guns and put Hawke scopes on them, I like them so far.

Bandg,

How well do the Hawkes compare to the higher end scopes you own in terms of resolution, choices of reticles, and overall quality control? Are the Hawkes easy to use with glasses on? In the past I’ve owned a Sightron and a Nikon both of which I sold due to poor resolution. I was really surprised that the Nikon was lacking as they make top notch photography lenses. My best bang for the buck scopes were the Weaver Grand Slams, but I don’t think they make those anymore.

I find the Hawke balance of good reticle along with good clarity and good quality to be fine for air guns. Do they match many of the higher end optics in absolutes? No. Do they cost the same? No. Functionally for air gun use, their performance has been excellent in my experience.

I just checked through all of Hawke's scope offers — they came out with a whole new slew of scopes. 👍🏼

My beef with them is that their FFP scopes do not have thick outside posts in the reticle:

➔ I would like those posts when shooting at low magnification because my eyes need that extra help to find the intersection of the crosshairs, especially in front of a busy background (target shooting isn't an issue, just hunting).

About Hawke's glass quality: Yo/Odoyle, our resident scope specialist (that we have somehow lost 😟) was super excited about the glass of the NEW(!) Frontier line scopes. He is not easily satisfied with just any glass, being a self-professed "scope snob" (his words, not mine). So, that sounds really good.... 👍🏼
