I would second the above suggestion on the Crosman 1377. That would be a great starter.

Hi John. I have the benjamin 397 book marked. Yours a 177? A couple of reviewers on PA stated it was a little difficult to pump(1st ,4th + 6th reviews - Geoff, Gary+ Loy). What are your thoughts on installing a scope rail? PM incoming. I thought we exchanged emails/phone #'s at one of the FT matches but I cant find it.
