AIRGUN MANUFACTURES QUALITY HISTORY QUESTION

With so many airgun makers, can anyone chime in to give highlights of each company's weak and strong points?

I realize many of the ones below can be eliminated with more of a secondary product then airgun makers

For instance, reliability, parts availability, company customer service quality, ect.

Thanks

Wow ,, that’s a tall order. I would say for the most part . You get what you pay for. Quality materials and precision fit tolerances don’t usually come cheap. Don’t expect Lamborghini performance from a Hyundai, same can be said for airguns and associated products. There are of course exceptions to the rule. Germany, Russia , The Czech Republic , Sweden and US have manufacturers that produce exceptional quality air rifles. China is starting to catch up but are not quite there yet. I’m not what I would call brand loyal and have owned guns from 100$ to well over 3000$ , believe me when I say the only thing they have in common is that they shoot pellets.

That's a lot of companies! And also these characteristics tend to change from year to year! So, someone would need to own a LOT of airguns or repair a LOT of airguns to comprehensively say.

I can say for sure that more expensive hatsans (up to $1000) are not worth any more than the cheapest models they sell. Sometimes they are worth less. Because they function worse. No better finish, materials, machining, nothing.

Looks like you are not aware that caps means you are screaming.

I had a post all written up but it sounded pretty negative and I was trying to decide whether to post it or not when my computer froze up. Probly a good thing cuz I would not want to hurt anyone's feeling cuz I know they are in short supply these days. ;^) But asking for info on a hundred manufacturers whom make many thousands of guns for a very diverse set of laws in so many countries is asking allot.

I mostly take into consideration where guns are made before I buy these days. I put this list together over the past few months and believe it to be fairly accurate but probly not complete nor perfect.

The guns made in the Czech Republic, Germany, Russia, Slovenia, Sweden, UK, Ukraine and US are of a higher quality in design , materials, fit and finish and have less problems for the most part. They are also easier to get parts for if the need arises.

Guns made in China. Korea, Mexico and a few other places seem to have more problems from day one and often require repair or major adjustment of even new guns for them to operate. They are usually less durable as well.

I am unsure of the Turkish and Spanish made guns at this time.

Many guns are rebadged and sold under reputable company trademarks so it can be difficult at times to know where they really come from.

Holy cow, very helpful, yes the list is to long but just the major pellet gun makes will do

Thank you for the help!

I must agree with this one. Billboard had to go back. They replaced barrel and tested to 15 yards. Excellent accuracy out to 30 yds. Factor have bad crown and Hatsan USA would not even acknowledge my complaint. Crown had a raised burr the entire circumference. Was shaving lead every shot. I was tired of waiting as not released in USA yet. I removed barrel and have it an 11° target crown plus polish. Shoots great now. Both were 25 cal barrels. Thank you on Bullboss HatsanUSA . Just know that ignoring my Factor issue list you a customer for life. Will sell them and not look back. Also discovered that Hatsan only care that their guns shoot well a 10m. Not good enough for me at the price they want. You want and like Hatsan that is OK by me.

With there being good guns in all price points , more people are into airguns, SO, forums, customer reviews, youtube , google search bar ... put the manufacturing company's product quality, customer service, how they handle warranty/parts & service issues, out there for us , as consumer's to help, and as a warning from those who have been here before . I did more research on my airgun purchase then I did on my truck ! Let's face it , we all want to drive lambos and other exotic sweetness , I can afford chevy.. Airguns are the same... The airgun community is pretty quick to point out manufacture & seller issues, And the one's to avoid!!! When you do a search , and the constant thyme is poor this or poor that , call/email, the company see how they deal with you , and your concerns <*BEFORE*> you buy from them, If they suk then move on...
