Airgun consumption in the Midwest report.

Airgun consumption in the Midwest report. I was set up at one of our local gun show's in the last part of September in Council Bluffs Iowa. Had a few air guns on the table as always. Never really hot sellers but every now and again a sell or lead will happen. So said lead shows up in the form of "A friend of mine inherited a bunch of airguns and wants to sell them'". So I hand him my card and think nothing more about it. A few days later I get a phone call from said inheritor. The lot is about 65 five miles from me in Glenwood Iowa, I go look at them, good stuff (All modern middle of the road) but nothing to get all giddy about (remember I have been doing this a long time). I make an offer that in all honesty I hope he will pass on. So we part ways with "I will think about it and get back to you" comment from him. Well in two day I get the call I was hopping I wouldn't, "I will take your offer". So now I own 203 airguns and 150 scopes plus incidentals.
Here is where the report from the Midwest comes in. My first post ownership gunshow was in Grand Island Ne Oct 28 & 29th. Selling (or at least trying to sell airguns in the corn belt). Show was dead and I mean dead, did sell some scopes but not much more. Was able to pick up a Daisy marked FWB300s and a stack of early Beeman catalogs and other literatures. The 300s is already at Dave Slade's getting a new lease on life. So last weekend I was in Clive Iowa (suburb of Des Moines) for another show that was deader than the last show. Did some better than the previous show and picked up two handguns cheap. The economy in the Midwest is in bad shape, no money changing hands at either show for anything. Working two more larger shows in Council Bluffs Iowa next month and in Jan. Both at the same location but different promoters. Will be looking for that Christmas gift money and post Christmas money.
So when you see the same gun on the classifieds here that keeps getting relisted by a member and you think way it has not sold,
remember the immortal quote of Cheech Marin "Things are tough all over".
