Air Venturi large compressor - fluid in gauge ?

So quick easy question - and did small search with no luck.

Got a decent deal on compressor via an auction. It was packed in original box and shipped to me via UPS from OH to FL.

Took an extra 2 days - and received with some oil on top - guessing it was not keep upright the entire time. But seems like the water did not spill. I figure it normally gets shipped without fluids.

Anyway - the question is - does the pressure gauge on top normal contain any fluid? It appears to me clear and oily but not full. Only fired up the water pump but don’t want to fire up compressor until I ask this simple question.

I will run any air out just in case before filling anything up or running it thru any dryer/filter.

I did find an 8 year old video and the bottom of the gauge appears to be fluid filled - which I am sure that similar to vehicle gauges it helps with the vibrations.

Oh - and yes I will remind myself to clean it before running it - as it does have oil on some surfaces that I am sure will get hot once is starts to run. Excited

I have the same compressor. Some gauges have oil to dampen the needle movement caused by compressor vibration. Instead of the needle showing a steady rise, it would show a blur like movement until the compressor stopped. My gauge is also not full.

GLYCERIN, and you can add more if you choose. Good to have that type mounted on compressor to quell vibration but not necessary on parts like fill adapter but doesn't hurt either.

Ya but you get the filled one and its a one does all. Not have dry and wishing you had a filled ..

I’ve never seen an oil filled pressure gauge with the pressure switch like that, that doesn’t mean they don’t exist. I’m unsure how conductive glycerin is…
