So I am looking to get the wife and I an Avenger in .22 cal. and a Sightmark Wraith HD so she can obliterate the nasty rat vermin in the back yard. We already have an RWS Model 34 in synthetic stock that shoots OK but it's a springer. She wants to be able to kill these things at night when they are most active so that is why I mentioned the Wraith HD scope. Anyone have any advice? I see an Avenger that is quite reasonable on the BST but I still can't use the PM feature yet which is really frustrating.

My advice to anyone considering the Air Venturi Avenger is to head to YouTube and check out the 3-month-old video, made by Pyramyd Air Insyder, titled, "Avenger vs. Avenge-X Review." Even if Avenge-X is out of your budget, at least you'll get a heads up on what parts of the Avenger that need to be addressed. WM

Can't, in all honesty, recommend the JTS Airacuda MAX, the unregulated JTS Airacuda Standard seems less troubled. Avenge-X, IMO, stands clearly at the top of the pack for "starter" PCPs, Dynamic Air Rifles (DAR) Generation 3, is next. WM

Really after all of that back and forth on the Updates thread which you recommended to someone else? I read all 13 pages and you were quite pleased at the end of the thread even though you went through hell and beyond to get there? The Avenge-X is a lot more money especially if I want it in wood.

Even my eternal optimism has had a "Come to Jesus" moment with this gun, won't recommend any longer. You might get one that's perfect, they're out there, just have to ask yourself if you feel lucky. I used the wraith for similar night time raccoon eradication. It works great at night and in the day, very clear picture. My only critique is that it's heavy. I have one for sale if interested.
