Air rifle slug barrels question?

I keep hearing about air rifle slug barrels. I,m not new to guns but somewhat new to air guns 5 years. I,m new to shooting slugs. I keep hearing most air rifles

Have to slow of a twist to to shoott

To shoot slugs unless you get a barrel liner for one. First of all I did not know there was such a thing of having a new liner installed

In a existing barrel. I would think you would have to buy a new barrel with a faster twist. Some one clear the air to my confusion on this. Now I checked the

Twist on my 25 cal avenger & it is 1to16 twist. That is not that slow in regards to barrels shooting conical s in other types of shooting? I know twist can go

down to 1in 10 or so. But round ball barrels can be as slow as 1in 66. I have not checked my other air riflles yet but I plan to. Can some one with true knowledge

Of this with air rifle please give your input.

yep dont want it choked .. and from what ive seen with airguns theres a wide variation of barrel sizes and projectile sizes, so i think key to getting a gun to shoot them decdnt is going to be making sure you get the right size lead to begin with .. id push a pellet through and mic it .. thats what you want ... if for example its .223 you dont want .224 or .222, you want .223 ..

Some of the older barrels didn't have a lot of twist until very near the crown, where they also choked to grab the pellet firmly.

Sizing as mentioned is important, but also how the slug is designed. If it had lots of drive bands (or lube grooves), these may crush easily enough to work with the choke. Depends on the depth of the bands, and size of the front of the bullet. If the solid parts are all a bit smaller than the smallest part of the choke, you might have better luck with a design like this.

Greg I casted my own slugs & coated them & ran them threw my .356 sizer. I read .356 was a good size for my barrel. So i sluged it at a tad under .357. So that should be spot on. I have shot a

few threw this gun but not enough to really give a report back. I been messing with my avenger. Biggest problem for me is this rifle uses a lot of air. I have no bottle to take to the

Range. I have a large generator that will power my tuxing as it has wheels but it is a bear to move. So that will most likely be what I do. I need to get this rifle tuned & sighted in. I bought it to pig hunt mostly.

That is my next project as soon as wife gives me room slack from house duty. I thought when I retired I would have all this time to do what ever I wanted. Boy was I wrong.😂
