Air Gun Compressor Oil....does this one seem like it would be a good option?

Soon I will receive my first air gun compressor (not sure what it is yet but...). I've been reading about the different oils and watched a couple of videos....I found this on sale at Home Depot.

I was wondering if this product would be appropriate and optimal for most standard air gun compressors?

It sounded good to me when reading the description.

It's not very expensive and I can source it locally.

I'd sure appreciate your thoughts, recommendations.

Use what the manufacture tells you , or take your chances . Keep doing your home work you will get it right .

The link doesn’t work for me. But it probably is not going to be what you want. I would look for ISO 100 oil for breathing air compressors, it won’t be cheap but I have a saying “oil is cheap no matter what it costs”. Good luck.

Just saw that it's ISO 68 not IAO 100....so maybe not a good choice

Seco 500 is all I would use, cheap no, but all standard "compressor" oils will break down quickly at 3-4x the pressure they are designed for. Skimp on oil you'll be compressor shopping or rebuilding shortly.

Been using the Husky synthetic compressor oil for 5 years now. Only done well for me and my Yong Hengs, that's why I haven't changed up. Hardly any discoloration to speak of from one oil change to the next, not compared to others I originally tried.

Not all HPA compressors use crankcase oil, GX-CS Series and the rectangular box multi-power, oil-less, waterless, to name a few. Used HUSKY Full Synthetic compressor oil for first two years in Yong Heng, without issue. Switched to SecoLube 500, following Biohazardman's advice. He pointed out the higher flashpoint of 520 degrees versus 480, would reduce chance of damaging "dieseling" should any make its way into the high-pressure section. WM

thank you. i'm not sure which make and model compressor i will receive but i like to learn what's best and to be prepared. so much knowledge on this forum...it's proving to be a very nice and friendly venue.

i'll search for the SecoLube 500 product as well.

this is all still very new to me

Strongly suggest you follow the manufacturer’s recommendations. They will list the requirements. If you go “off” recommendations you will void your warranty. If you want to buy something off the shelf you should follow the specifications or standards of oil(s) you get.
The manufacturer should clearly state requirements. Don’t half step this.
The oil you are talking about might be ok for you compressor just make sure the specs are a match.

i really appreciate all the advice. I guess i raised the question because in my search i found some disagreements and conflicting information which seemed to suggest that there were newer and improved options. this is such an expensive sport (at least for myself at this stage of life) so i wanted to do due diligence.
