Air force Texan 257

Tomorrow i'm to receive AIRFORCE Texan 257. This will be my 1st Texan. I will be using it to hunt woodchucks and coyotes. I would like to hear from airgunners who have been owners for some time now, what grain slugs do you use and what power wheel setting? As of right now,, I want to shoot tethered 9 liter CF tank and i have a inline regulator that can be adjusted.

Buy a real cleaning rod and brass brush to clean...A bore snake won't help with leading... Barrels need to be clean on big bores. Aersonal molds has nice cheap.molds. the Lyman 257/420 70 grain seems to be 257 favorite. Also there is a 85 grain spitzer.

+1 on what Reedmosser said. I would also slug the barrel and order proper sizing dies. Next up would be fire lapping the bbl . Wheeler has outstanding kit. Follow up with jb bore paste for increased accuracy and ease lead fowling. Lube your bullets and you should be good to go.

Today i am a proud owner of a 257 Texan. I do own a 25 cal modified Avenger and AEA 357 big bore Challenger and i will say The Texan is nothing like either one! It's in a different league!!!!

I have the .457 SS. Added an Emperor with extender (huge LoL) to tame the bark. I have not cleaned the barrel yet but I probably should. About 20 rounds thru it. I purchased some NSA 290 gn slugs and have a 340 gn mold. I do have a bulldog stock enroute. She is a beast.

All i can say is WOW!!!!! here is a rimfire target (spiner) and i was nailing it at 100 yards, after hitting it,,, it would spin like 8 times around with 72gr slugs
