Air Force Texan .257 long range targets

I got the 257 LSS last week from PA.

Yesterday I ordered a Mad Dog Bulldog stock, have a Arsenal 257420 boat tail mold coming and a NOE .258 sizer.

I removed the valve return spring today and I have been looking hard at the .5L carbon fiber 4500 psi tank.

This is my 2nd run at a .257 airgun, the first was a Haley 257 Scandalous with inter-changeable 36 inch TJ Barrels, a 1-14 and 1-10 twist. It was the last 257 Jack made.

If you google Roachcreek 615 yard airgun shot on 12 oz cola can, you can see the Haley in action on utube. At the time that was considered the longest airgun shot to date.

My son has a house boarding BLM land, getting ready to shoot some steel.

Regards,

Roachcreek

Charlie,

#007 Scandalous from John Bowman, Jack's son in law is on its way to me. Also a 1:14 32" & a 1:10 28" bull, but both are Lilja barrels.

Maybe a one liter bottle with the canted adapter?

A Texan shooting a 257420 is going to need a low power setting to be accurate. It flings them too fast. So no need to up the power unless you have longer heavier bullets. The you’ll be desiring a faster twist barrel.

my .257 Texan loves the 257420 and the Noe boat tail version (Hollowpoint rocks). It also likes the Arsenal 257388 (85grn).

That barrel should get a thorough cleaning and polish. Lube your bullets with 10 weight RC Shock Oil so you don’t foul the barrel so fast. I powder coat my bullets and then lube.

I'm shooting .257 Griffin 72 grain slugs at 2500 psi and at 990 FPS. My groups at 200 yards are around 4 inches. Any recommendations on how to shoot smaller groups?
