"Air Chrony" review!

Hey guys, 

Here's a look at the Air Chrony! While I thought this one was little odd at first, I grew to liking it really quickly! After having ~5-6 other chrony's over the years, I've experienced ones that perform very poorly to ones that work very well. The sheer simplicity of this one is hard to beat and the zero errors makes it stand out from the rest! Hope you enjoy my review!

I like mine, but when I purchased it no one ever told me about the tray. I'm not sure I would ever use it, but it would have been nice to know it was an option. I did cut an opening in a steel plate with a plasma cutter to protect it when I put it down range. I would hate to pull a shot and kill my chrony.

Yeah, good call mine had a nice dent in it, never try down range with CPH pellets, they shoot great and then you get those crazy 1 out of 20 flyers. Still works great! Don’t forget after a few thousand rounds if she starts acting weird to carefully clean the sensors with an alcohol swab and you will be GTG I think it’s the best tuning crony out. Love it.

Yeah, the small opening is a downside, especially when considering putting it downrange. I'm thinking about making something similar to what you did. 

lol... kind of a "catch22"! If the opening was bigger, the whole thing wouldn't be as nice and compact. I suspect it would also have a higher likelihood for errors as well. 

Nice name. One of my favorite shows as a kid!

Thanks! It turns my stomach to have to still use yt after their politically motivated knee jerk reaction policy changes. In general, my videos post up on the 101 for about 2 weeks before they go live on yt.

You can buy small thin sheets of polycarbonate (Lexan) at Home Depot, cut them to size, and layer them together to create a thicker sheet for less than $20. If you have a powerful airgun I'd test before using to make sure you have it thick enough

Can you mount it sideways with a camera tripod. I guess can you is mute, more will it work mounted sideways so one can shoot groups while cronoing?

I have no doubt at all that using it like that would work. I haven't tried it myself but, I can see no reason why it wouldn't work and it's a very good idea! Thanks!

I used Lexan to protect my stainedglass panels, 1/4" would stop a .22 lr point blank, resist a blow from an 8lbs. sledgehammer, literally built proof.

Bob, I have one. In fact, it was one of the first ones on US soil. I hope to knock out a review on it in the future.

Is it used downrange to gauge ballistic slowdown? I'm only familiar with near-muzzle chrony use.

Well... I wouldn't use this one for that without protection but, yes. If you want to know your ballistic coefficient, you need to take readings down range. The Lab Crony makes this easy by giving users multiple readings from each shot. However, you need to buy additional equipment to use it with an airgun and the price tag puts it out of the reach of many.
