Air Arms S500 vs S510

Why don't you go buy a BSA Super Ten then. Unfortunately I had the chance to buy the BSA Super Ten back in the day but instead chose to go the unregulated route and buy Theoben Rapids instead so what would I know? All I can say is those 20+ year old Rapids haven't needed any service and still keep up with my regulated RAWs that's for sure. Yo!

I think there great guns, but the bolt has quite a pull to it and it doesn’t have a pressure gauge, and maybe the one I shot was a lemon, but it had fliers every 5 or so shots even with JSB pellets and wasn’t super accurate past 40 or so yards.

DANG GOOD DEAL $450.00 22 AA S410 WITH 3 MAGS ALREADY SOLD EARLIER. MISSED IT BY JUST THIS MUCH

... Yo!

Yo, you already have more guns than this guy-so leave a few for us 'economically challenged' folks, LOL!

PS-I grabbed that one.

Wow I don’t even know where you guys get these guns! It’s like you can just pull them out of a magicians hat whenever you want LOL!

If it were me id just leave it be dont mess with a good thing and just fill to 2750 to 2800psi shoot 30 shots then refill how difficult could that be? Your Huma or whatever brand regulator is one more thing to worry about going bad with the recurring potential to throw your first shot astray whenever it sits for some hours. Yo!

If you tune a regulated rifle correctly you won't have to worry about first shot being astray any more than the shot difference between an unregulated peak/mid/low operating pressures bell curve...

Further regulated rifles are just as reliable as unregulated being that they rely on o-rings just as any air gun does and would need to rebuilt and nearly the same rate as a typical unregulated pcp...

There are far more benefits to regulated than unregulated, hence why nearly all top end pcp's have them...its not worth debating the benefits or drawbacks except for personal reasons and belief...neither of which I am willing to entertain as its not in my interest to sway your opinion.

I totally get it. I have a pair of Daystate Renegades and they both have aftermarket Humas as well as lots of FXs swapped out with Humas as well and the BSA Bucanneer and Marauders and P-Rods Hatsan BSA R10 Atemis M16 Brocock Compatto just to name a handful of many. I'm getting to the point to not tinker with the gun unless absolutely necessary that's all. Especially for someone who doesn't have the luxury of just go and buy another gun at any time if this one gets screwed up by newbie tinkering on a gun that really doesn't need it. Yo!

Ok I understand what you mean, but I didn’t know that you would get about 30 shots unregulated. I though it was like 15-20 shots per fill. If it’s around 30 then I doubt I’ll buy a regulator and tinker with an already awesome gun.

Thanks for the input guys!

The AA S5 is a very beautiful gun.

It is very long though but light.

It was my 2nd PCP (.22), the 1st one being the CZ S200 Hunter Series in .177.

At 1 time, I was able to get a 3/4 of an inch 5-shot group (3 were touching) at 100 meters with my S5 using AA 16 grain pellets--it was windless.

It was my comp gun in Asia.

My gun a had a quirk; it had extremely tight consistency at 2,050 PSI but it was only for 5-6 shots.

By the way, did you get the unregulated version for its walnut stock?

Motorhead can install a regulator and tune that S5 of yours if you decide on it in the future.

Yes I got the walnut that is not regulated. I mainly bought it because I have a weatherby 2506 with a walnut stock from Minnelli and it is one of the nicest looking firearms I own.

honestly, I might not want to shoot it because it looks so dang nice.

Yes, AA makes very nice airguns--makes the FX look spartan in the aesthetics department, lol!

Mine was in Poplar stock:

I got long arms, hence the Limbsaver slip-on butt pad, lol!

I installed an all-delrin Matt Winser "pickle" on mine but had the front cap lathed (they cannot be disassembled) and threaded for a stainless front cap.

I replaced the screws on mine with deburred and polished stainless ones.

Nice, even the poplar stock looks nice. Have you ever tried slugs in it? I’m really hoping that maybe the NSA 17 or 20gr slugs will do well in it.

No, I left this AG and some when I came to the US years ago.

No one can touch it, as my house (just beside my parents) is under lock and key, lol!

Slugs were not trending back then.

It still looks brand new and has no scratches nor dings.

I am really tempted to buy a twin but my home range in Abq., NM is only approximately 30 yards.

It is an insult to shoot this gun at so close a distance 😁

Btw, if you intend to disassemble yours like mine I suggest you sleeve your wrenches--I do my all my tools to prevent marring my toys if I happen to have a slip 😁

Also, when you have removed a part put it afar right away, as there is always a chance your tool slides off from your grip and lands on it, lol! Sorry but I am really that meticulous.

I cringe when I see videos or photos of fine guns with compromised anodizing/bluing because of carelessness.

Another thing is seeing fine guns laid on the ground or trees or on any rough surface, WTH 👀

One last thing, if I ever purchase another AA S5 I will have it nickel boron plated--I sent some rimfire and airgun parts to CCR a few days for plating and I hope they look super nice..Nickel will make them scratch-resistant, haha!

Sorry for the OT, sir, lol!

Please update us of your gun's adventures!

Wow I never thought of putting a sleeve on wrenches to prevent damage, nice idea. Will start doing that most definitely for my other projects too.

I guess I’ll have to just try the slugs then.
