Sometimes its just all about the right tools. I bought this excellent used scope and it is awesome. Hawke sport HD 4-12x50 AO MIL DOT IR. Only problem was the battery was dead and the cap was frozen solid tight. Well who says airgunning isn't like pulling teeth. Hahaha. Sometimes it just takes a few specialty tools and a little finesse. In this case a forcep or two to have room to isolate each piece with adequate force and rotate. NMshooter would be proud. Hahaha.

Absolutely RidinLou. Sorry about the ex part, but the saying is true. Some of those caps are so small fingers just won't work.

@plinker You made me chuckle cause I had the very same problem with my previous Hawke Sidewinder. I am a MacGyver kinda guy and was able to use duct tape and pliers to torque that sucker off. It was all for naught though as the reticle still wouldn't illuminate after swapping the batter for a new one. I ended up sending the scope in under warranty and Hawke sent me a new scope.

Had the same problem with my MTC viper connect. I think while screwing it in, it threaded not the way it was supposed to. Had to use a pair of pliers once the battery died to open it. Was super scared that the force would cause problems in the reticle or illumination. Thankfully the operation went well. Lesson learnt. Now whenever I have to put the cap on, I first rotate it counter clockwise so it catches the thread and then rotate it clockwise to close.
