Aggressive bird behavior on Scope Cam

Bob, that was interesting for sure. Ted has posted a video of starlings doing the exact same thing. A few weeks ago, I shot a female house sparrow and a male house sparrow mounted her immediately. I’d never seen or heard of that before.

For those that don’t know the Cowbird; they are parasitic brooding birds. Which means they lay their eggs in other birds nests, tricking other birds into raising their young.

Terry, that’s why if you can shoot the female cowbird when you get the chance. Cowbirds used to follow the buffalo herds around and that’s why they dropped their eggs in other birds nest. Now because of forest fragmentation they have really hurt the populations of many native species.

Those Cowbirds are certainly a destructive species and as mentioned never raise their own young, instead lay their eggs in a songbirds nest and kick out the eggs that were there. Good going to remove them (not sure about the Red Wings or Yellow heads as they tend to be marsh inhabitants, but looks like they are adding to the farm problems?)
About the aggressive behaviour ... Nature is puzzling at times, but I recall a friend of mine recounting something very similar when he was culling bison for a local farmer. A young male Bison was shot within a paddock and before the animal had completely fallen , two of the more mature bulls turned on the dying animal and literally kicked , stomped and gored the lifeless body... This went on for some time raising concerns about the quality of the meat. The older bulls had to be chased away using a truck in order to secure the harvested animal. I'm sure there are other accounts throughout various species ...

The lights in my back window are amber. I also have an amber mini light bar. I deliver mail on some bad stretches of windy county roads and state highways.....I'll take all the warning allowed by law.
The post office issues orange flags, which is a joke. The lights I have I had to pay out of pocket for.

The aggressive behaviour looks to me more of a bird version of trying to clear the airway and revive his buddy. I can almost hear him say while dramatically shaking his buddy "Why Kevin why? Why'd you have to leave me!"
