I’m looking to buy an HW97K next year. Was pretty set on .177, But! Just saw the new thread on new JSB pellet offerings in .20, so I am looking for any thoughts on this: .177 or .20? Thanks!

I only have one .20 gun, an HW77 but I love it. I know there are several FT guys who swear by the .20. I would love to see the BC on the new JSB's.

IMO, newer (heavier) .177 pellets have dramatically narrowed the performance gap between .22 and .177. I did have a .20 Sheridan many years ago but haven't had one recently so can't comment on that. I have a few .22 air guns but am predominantly a .177 person.

I like the twenty Cal too but pellet manufacturers don't seem to support it because demand is so low.
Example,: JSB only has one 20 cal pellet in one weight in their line up. Either your gun loves them or hates them.

@Lewis Thanks. I don't do competitive shooting (yet) I can't hit a barn's side unless I'm on a bench or have a support. I do however appreciate a gun's potential for accuracy and tight groups as they serve me well for hunting/pesting. Do you have any groups you can share with your .20 77?

It's to cold outside right now to shoot you any groups but I can say my HW97 in .20 is the most accurate and least hold sensitive springer I've ever owned. Mine is completely tuned with buttoned compression tube and piston with a hornet kit and seal but even in stock form was a really good shooter....
I'm stoked about JSB coming out with the 15.89 grainers especially since Crosman stopped making the premiers...
Should be a great hunting pellet and I'm going give them a go as soon as there available...also have a HW80 in .20 so I'm ready to let the testing begin!
