Aeon Scope screw/plug on bottom, what is it?

Can someone help me out. I bought two Aeon scopes. They both have this screw/plug. What is it for. I assume factory maintainance, but unsure. I have a bunch of Leopolds, Vortex and an Aztec, none have it. The manual sucks. (Yes this is a picture of a Bushnell I found online, but same screw/plug)

I have not had one apart, but I would guess that is the retainer for the erector spring. Also an indication that it uses a coil spring on the erector, rather than a leaf spring.

Whats an erector? Anything I need to or should adjust?

Absolutely not.

The erector spring holds and allows adjustment of your zero. Don't touch it until less you're itching to buy another scope ?

Pretty sure if you were to break the seal on that you'll end up letting the nitrogen escape and potentially get fogging at some point too, in the unlikely case the mechanism still works like it should...

So did we have to replace the spring for long use time?
