tyvm, and also good to know so im not stressing about leaving them charged. for some reason i thought \it was bad for the seals. the more important question still remains, do i need to drain it before i can take the tank off and get to that valve?

Yes let the air out before you start disassemble anything. I do keep my AEA HP full of air when not in use.

I keep all of mine at reg or below pressures. Usually at about 90 - 110 ish. Just so that I don't cause undue stress to the regulator and air cylinders.

Tyvm. I guess I don't have the same problem, my valve pin is fully intact. I cast my own slugs, they were a little snug and every third one or so I had to really ram the breech home to get it to close. I suspect I damaged something because I'm an idiot and a tight wad (free tire weights means free bullets right??)

Im not familiar with the Megalodon. Im really kinda new to all this but I looked up a pin for the megalodon and the front of yours looks different. The front on a new one looks sloped, yours looks flat.I dont know. Someone more knowledgeable will by soon I'm sure. Here is what I found.

O rings last longer when they are kept under pressure. They dry up much more quickly with no air in the tanks.

I’m pretty sure the consensus is this My AEAs are all kept ready to rock.

well crap i also want to keep mine ready to rock thats half the point of owning the damn thing. guess i should have did research, pretty sure google told me it was bad. so if i put a drop of silicone oil in the end of the fill probe from time to time before i air it up its probably a good thing? oddly the answer to fixing it was apparently just letting the air out, as now it works again. i didnt find anything jammed or broken when i took the trigger apart either.

Storing with some pressure is the wisest course of action imo. Gassing and degassing moves the orings too much and orings oxidize, and saturate with gas. High pressure air has more oxygen in it by density. Storing it below reg pressure is fine for safety, just don't shoot it because aea has a really bad reputation with me because of their valve pins. You don't want so send that poppet too far out.

Every time you change pressure that significantly the orings move and wear in tiny ways, and aeas machine work while not terrible, isn't great...... I own a different model.

I will study the thread more and chime in again in a little bit. Hope you get it figured out

it seems to function now after removing the rear tank, degassing the main tank, removing the valve pin and reinserting it. not sure which of those operations fixed it but yeah, it poofs again. its weird because when i initially tried to shoot it and it wouldnt fire it was probably at about 4100 pounds. my initial search said valve lock or whatever and to fill it more (?) so i filled it to the full 45 and still nothing. luckily it wasnt the pin though and it all seems fine now.

I need help and I don't know alot about PCP guns.
I've had an AEA semi hp .30 for about a yr. No issues. I filled the gun to 2600psi about 2 months ago and it was still filled today. So I go to run a couple mags through it today and the 1st shot sounded like it fired. Shot the 2nd and it fired but no pellet, it was stuck in the barrel. The gun was making a hissing sound were the pellet loads.
Figured I needed to take the barrel of and get the pellets out. After a video I disassembled the barrel and the rod that screws into the cocking lever. There were 2 pellets in the barrel. While I was at it I unscrewed the back and removed the hammer and spring to inspect. I put it all back together and filled it with air to 2200psi.
Now when I go to shoot no air comes out. It will fill and no leak or hissing. I pull the lever back, it clicks then move forward. Seems fine with my limited knowledge, but when I pul the trigger I just get a small thud but not a bit of air. I am in North Ga and there are no shops here that work on these things. It's not that great of a gun and wouldn't want to ship anywhere to fix. Figured I would ask here and maybe go ahead and start learning to fix this thing. Appreciate any help and sorry if I'm not using the proper terminology or part names.

As far as I know, it's not valve lock. Some Megalodons suffer from an issue where the bolt handle rubs against the slit in the receiver. This slows the hammer down, and thus it won't hit the valve pin hard enough to let the air out properly.

It's actually more likely to happen at higher pressures (between 4000 and 4500 PSI), since that's when the valve requires more force to overcome the pressure in the tank.

If it starts happening again, try firing it without the bolt handle. You can just screw it out. Alternatively, you could use a dremmel to reduce the diameter of your bolt handle so it clears the receiver properly.
