AEA owners

Can I hear from the guys who own AEA airguns? I'm seriously considering one, and your feedback would be greatly appreciated. Things like quality, service, reliability, accuracy, shot count, power, ect. I'm not really convinced by some of the reviews online. I did watched the Mountain Sport Airguns review and it seemed good. I definitely trust Dana. I think he is a stand up guy. Would just like to hear more about long term experiences though. I'm looking at the Varmint and the semiautomatic carbine, or pistol version.

I had two hp-ss and a regulated element.

For the price, they're ok. The semi-auto was fun, but super heavy trigger pull.

Quality, good for the price but isn't anything to write home about.

Service, pretty good, the distributors are pretty helpful.

Reliability, ehhh, the semi's can get interesting. One of my HPSS would randomly burst fire or go full auto. Easy to take the gun apart though. The element was pretty spot on though it could have used a few simple improvements.

Shot count/power - forget about it with the SS, too short. Enough for closer range pesting? Yes. The varmint is where you want to head for both shot count and power (or the longer barrel carbine).

I don't own em anymore. But they are fun. My problem was that you always wanted just that one more thing to be better.

AEA fill their price point quite nicely and after a year still very pleased with my once 25 caliber carbine transformed into a quieter but 3" longer 25 caliber back packer. I've had no major problems, it's very accurate and hard hitting and generally support has been good.

I started to think about a newer smaller lighter AEA SS in 25 caliber with the adjustable power wheel. Knowing that the AEA pressure must be within a certain range with the stars lined up just right for it's semi auto to cycle correctly. But that is the nature of these beasts and others here confirmed what I was thinking about using any lower power vs semi auto cycling. So now I am thinking that a new power wheel AEA HP SS + DonnyFL = will equal a carbine length with about the same sound report.

This started life as a 25 cal Standard custom I hated the long barrel so I cut it down from 24 to 14” treaded and recrowned and changed to an SS air tube it. The harmonics were off so I made a 3/4” shroud and use the DonnyFL as a tuner all in all it shoots great and it’s super light with the SS air tube or when longer shot count is needed I use the original 350cc regulated air tube

Amazing work, Shortfuse! Love the look of that silver scope and shroud. You got a gun that nobody else owns, and very custom.
