AEA HP carbine (semi-auto) dumping all it's air after the first shot!

I bought said gun about 18 months ago put a few hundred rounds though it at that time. It's been sitting in my gun safe with about 2000 psi in it ever since.
A few days ago I finally got my air supply sorted out, so I filled it up to 3,300psi. Today I just tried to fire it for the first time. It doesn't cycle and instead just dumped the entire contents of the air cylinder. Scared the $h!t out of me.

Any ideas what could be the problem?

I am assuming that is the problem.

Just my opinion but these guns are over spring both hammer and valve. They just beat themselves to death.

I have the HP Plus. I messed with mine for some time and ended up with a fill pressure of 2,200-2,300 psi and get three mags before it won’t cycle. I wish they offered a regulator and end tube fill for the plus version.

Same problem with mine. I haven’t gotten around to replacing the poppet yet. Terrible platform in my opinion and like the previous guy said they just fall apart on their own due to poorly constructed parts that are not durable enough
It is not so much they are junk, like everything they are built to a price point. I can not confirm but I have a feeling the springs in the .22 hp rifles are the same as all the bigger caliber guns. So we have that 3,600 psi fill. you end up with a heavy hammer just beating the valve pin to death.

The old BAM 50 guns were the same way. But clip the hammer some and they lived a happy life.

I polished everything I could on mine. I wanted to turn it down to 14 ish ftlbs and just have a fun plinker. In the case of the plus version I goofed, I should have got the non plus because you can add a regulator.

I cut my hammer spring until the rifle would no longer cycle. Then I clipped the valve spring to get it back in balance. Rifle still shoots close to 25ftlb and gets three mags at 2,300 fill pressure. It doesn’t feel nearly as violent. But here is where not have a reg messes up doing this on the plus version. If I fill it to 2,400 the gun will not shoot semi auto until it gets back to the sweat spot.

The none plus with a reg set at 100 bar and a fill of over 3,000 with all the said above done to it would be awesome.

Well, I just took it apart and it was only 2 min job thanks to Bin Tac's very helpful video. The valve pin came out in two bits - the black plastic end was shattered in two. The new part is $45 + shipping! I've already broken two magazines as well (covered under warranty).

I guess I'll just fix it and see how it goes from there. It's a super fun gun to shoot - got a red dot on it and use it for shooting moving targets.

The valve pins are the Achilles heel of those semi-autos. I’ve broken two of them. But there are stronger aftermarket pins available on ebay and what-not.

I just ordered one of these. Hope it last longer that the OEM pin (about 300 shots). At $53 shipped, it better!
