My AEA Challenger Standard .25 cal bolt won't lock back when cocked. Anybody else experience this issue and know what the problem is?
No it does not fire. There is spring tension when the bolt is pulled back, but it returns to the forward position when I release tension on the bolt. Will it fire?
Have you adjusted the trigger? Anyway, it sounds like you have acquired an over sensitive hair trigger. Try backing off a little.
Thanks for the reply. I have not adjusted the trigger but I will investigate the sear engagement.Have you adjusted the trigger? Anyway, it sounds like you have acquired an over sensitive hair trigger. Try backing off a little.
Thanks for the feedback. I will check the sear adjustment. My thoughts as well. The sear engagement might be too little and it isn't even catching when you cock it. Increase the sear engagement and/or the sear spring pressure screw if it has that adjustment and see if that works.
tell us what you did to the gun, as far as adjustments,, it is a BIG help to know all detailsMy AEA Challenger Standard .25 cal bolt won't lock back when cocked. Anybody else experience this issue and know what the problem is?
I have a Challenger .357 and had a similar issue. I almost returned the gun; before I discovered that, due to a poorly fitting stock, part of the action was rubbing on the stock and would keep the trigger from fully engaging. A little material removal from the stock and the gun was safe to shoot. It is still a bear to cock; but I’m working on that.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my post. I have since discovered a broken sear that is currently under warranty repair by AEA.Sounds like the hammer spring is too tight preventing sear engagement.
