Tuning AEA Assasin Pistol in .30 (What should I expect for Accuracy?)

This is Nate from AGC Sports, a politically correct "outdoor sports equipment review channel". I got a free AEA Assasin pistol in .30 for review from a new air gun shop (not Fox). This guy deserves a good video, however, sending a .30 Cal pistol type gun was probably not the best idea (I didn't catch it either). If this assassin was a .22 I'm sure I could show some nickel size groups at 35 yards. With the .30 cal it has some kick to it, so I can't get better than 2-3 inch groups...most of the shots in a quarter.

My question: Am I expecting too much from a semi auto pistol? Should I be filming this whole video at 25 yards max

It did only shoot the JSB 44gr well, out of 4 pellets I tried. Still haven't tried polymags, but I have some.

It looks like the max with a .30 cal pellet of 44gr is 724 FPS...not 870 like I want (short barrel).

Question 2: Is my main problem that my .30 cal is flying too slow? ...is there a prefered "slow speed" that a 44gr JSB would like to fly? The gun will go from 482 FPS min to 724FPS max.

Obviously, I picked the wrong caliber to show the Assasin at it's best. Too late now...no time or funds to replace it. ...also, short on ammo.

If anyone has any ammo or tuning tips for this .30 please let me know. Thanks! -Nate

hmm what to expect ... i know i dont expect much from anything under 850fps and yeah maybe 40y max, but a pistol 'is' for short range .. if you want a longer range setup hello, get a rifle lol ... it may be capable of more but why .. anything up to the sizd of the neighbors dog is in trouble under 40 lol .. id lose the giant 1000y target scope to. put something you can use on there like a 4x or 2-7 ...

My 2 cents, if your advertisement is for a pistol airgun then why have that monster scope on it and why try and go past 25 yards. We have are long guns for "long range" and our pistols for close in quick shooting. With that monster scope there is no quick in the picture with that thing. I'm sure most would be using as a truck gun around the farm or property which means easy use and maneuverability.

Honestly about right for AEA. I classify them as 'hunting accurate' in stock form.

I had a regulated element that I had tuned up fairly well. Regulator adjusted, custom hammer spring, polished trigger, made a barrel band and moderator adapter before they went mainstream with paid reviewers recently. Consistently was an inside-MOA shooter after that.

My experience with the semi's was...they are super fun, but not super duper precise. Can't do a whole lot to the triggers or they end up turning into burst or full auto......

Cool guys! Alot of great info. I will show the 35 yard groups but I will make the video about blasting stuff at close range (25 yards). Going to shoot it at 25 yards today. Thanks for the insight! I have to remember it's a pistol...I was confused for a second.

The HP Varmint I reviewed would be a great candidate for a regulator and trigger job. It was pretty good as is.

not trying to promote anything, but this is the same exact gun with a long barrel (in .25) .. if anyone didn't know about it. I personaly really like it...and for $600 it's a great gun.
