I've been into photography and RC aerial photo/video for a l-o-n-g time,
and one of the things that I've always had to invest in were action cams..
I did the GoPro thing back in the day, but, then we were all introduced to another option..
SJCam. SJCams are a fantastic alternative, and, they can be had for a fraction of the price.
They're actually very high quality, high resolution, feature packed, and I've had Great luck with them.
I have a few of their SJ6-Legend models, and the newest version
[or even older version using the newest firmware update] gives added digital zoom. That's a big one..
Scope cams give a small picture, so, on board zoom is a Big plus.
I measured the lens housing on the SJCam, and it is the same diameter as a GoPro..
That said, an adapter with a hole in it can easily be mounted to the side-shot w/ the oem holes/screws,
and the cam's lens housing can be passed through the hole as to shoot the image the side-shot provides..
The cam also has a few different FOV's. Wide field, Normal field, and Narrow field, so that's helpful too.
Since I can't get my Galaxy Note 8 to work with my Side-Shot, I'll be using my SJCam Legends instead.
They're @ $125.00 for the cam, cord, case, bat or 2, and a whole bunch of mounting accessories..
There ARE knock-offs, so, make sure you go through an Authorized dealer, SJCam/Amazon Prime, etc.
