Advice needed Sideshot

Hi guys I have the sideshot scope cam for my phone but would like to know which action cam on a budget with lens replacement to a 60° degree non distortion lens with zoom ring. Can be used has anyone done a project like this and what action cam and lens did you buy. If anyone had any success please show footage and pics of your modified action cams please thanks guys.

Yes seen the video and Steve is a good idea, on the video it says the go pro 7 black I don't want to buy one that expensive. I'm trying to find out if it works with a budget action cams with a 60° non distortion lens change and zoom ring fitted. But trying to find out if anyone has done the same kind of thing and which is the best budget action cam to use. So if anyone has done the same kind of mod and it's worked which action cam have you used and what lens. I may have found the correct lens but torn between the action cams has there is a few 4k budget ones with non distortion where you can change the lens. Just trying to narrow it down. So I hope maybe there is someone out there who has tinkered with this themselves and could tell me which action cam they used. Post replies on thread guys thx.

I've been into photography and RC aerial photo/video for a l-o-n-g time,
and one of the things that I've always had to invest in were action cams..

I did the GoPro thing back in the day, but, then we were all introduced to another option..

SJCam. SJCams are a fantastic alternative, and, they can be had for a fraction of the price.
They're actually very high quality, high resolution, feature packed, and I've had Great luck with them.

I have a few of their SJ6-Legend models, and the newest version
[or even older version using the newest firmware update] gives added digital zoom. That's a big one..

Scope cams give a small picture, so, on board zoom is a Big plus.

I measured the lens housing on the SJCam, and it is the same diameter as a GoPro..
That said, an adapter with a hole in it can easily be mounted to the side-shot w/ the oem holes/screws,
and the cam's lens housing can be passed through the hole as to shoot the image the side-shot provides..

The cam also has a few different FOV's. Wide field, Normal field, and Narrow field, so that's helpful too.

Since I can't get my Galaxy Note 8 to work with my Side-Shot, I'll be using my SJCam Legends instead.

They're @ $125.00 for the cam, cord, case, bat or 2, and a whole bunch of mounting accessories..

There ARE knock-offs, so, make sure you go through an Authorized dealer, SJCam/Amazon Prime, etc.

🙂👍

Yes I was just looking at the sjcam sj8 pro watched a comparison video vs gopro hero 7 black and the sjcam was just has good if not better in some places. But if I bought one of those I would still need a lens change wouldn't I. To the 60° degree lens or would it be fine with the standard lens. To attach to my sideshot. Let me know guys if this camera would work in standard for or lens change. Also if anyone has any links to a certain lens for this action cam please add that also thanks guys.

Thanks for the replies guys I was looking at the sjcam legends I think I'll go down that route. Just want to know if the side shot guys are going to sell a separate case to attach to the phone holder side shots. Has I think it's not that fair if you have to purchase another full rig. So if you guys know if there selling them yet or where you may get one to work let me know thx
