Advice needed please !

I have a cricket carbine 22 cal. in a skeleton stock, the forearm has a recess for your fingers & thumb 11 3/4 x 1/2 in. (groove) problem is it is slippery. Looking for some (Black Rubberized) self -adhesive tape to put in that area. True Value has it in gray (anti - slip tape for steps ) but need it in black plus I do not want the sand paper type it has to be rubber. This will help with the problem & add a little bling to the stock. Thanks in advance Darell

the only thing that comes to mind that would be in that size would be flex tap after cutting to size. rubber electrical tape may not be sticky enuff to stay on. another thing to try is plasti-dip for tools,just mask off the area and paint on and it comes in a few diff colors.

You can use grip tape lots of different kinds for tennis, hockey, golf, or there is black traction tape that is rubberized and self adhesive for steps.

Maybe, self adhesive neoprene? It comes in small sizes (2"x3"), cuts with scissors, and should give you the grip you're looking for. It's cheap too. So, when it wears out you can just replace it. I think I found some on Ebay or Amazon years ago.

I would tape around the area and use a spray can of black truck bed line. Look online there are articles telling how to do it with great results.

I use skateboard tape on my revolvers, it works great. It doesn't take a lot for good grippage either. I created a pattern to cut out for replacement once in awhile. It is very gritty and works extremely well with just a smidgen on the grip. You can buy it sheets of about 2 feet square, most skateboard stores have it, or online of course.

Or you can get a can of plasti dip from home depot. That is spray on just cover everything you do not want it on. That gives you a rubber feel.

And also there is rubberized electric tape, comes in a little container with brush. Try it out on something similar to what you want to use it on.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, will be giving them some thoughts & any more that come in. Been waiting for a scope for my puncher breaker to get that project done then I'll get back to the cricket ( went brain dead thinking how to do that inlay & didn't want to make a mistake ) . I used that flex spray in black on the barrel of my black powder rifle.It came out good and is rubbized no more rusty of the barrel
