You'll find that's platform-dependent... I would say most airguns you can't, and a handful you can (I can with my Epoch). I wouldn't try it until you know fer sure or you could be replacing parts...

My Avenger and Rainson Edge do not want you to decrease pressure in the regulator while there is pressure in the gun. The Avenger's manual is pretty explicit about it. My FX Dreamline will let you raise or lower the regulator pressure while there is pressure in the gun. I read it in the manual five or six times before I finally believed it, and it still makes me a little queasy to turn it down while pressurized.
