Neither my son nor me have had a chance to shoot a deer yet…..

Indeed.
It has a history.
Many years ago the Government was in charge of organizing desert sheep hunting. Sheep can be located from miles of distance with scopes and allow to count them.
The Governemet was hen decided to do the same with black bears and then tried to find them with scopes as they used to do with sheep. The problem is that bear live in canyons with vegetation and may not be located with the same tactics that sheep.
As they were not successful with their methodology finding bears they decided they hey were in danger of extinction. And they there are with the same criteria since 40 years ago.
Mexican Governemt do not have the money nor the people to make another effort to try to understand that they are wrong. Now bears are causing damage to many farmers killing cattle.

A couple of hours ago we went to a spot in which my son has seen the javalina. We put a blind there in order he can try to take one with his bow. Javalinas repeat habits do it is very likely he will have the chance to get one.

We have the same problem because of the reintroduction of the grey wolf, of no deer in some areas and killing cattle . Now it is hard for the government to manage them, but it is because of the voter's and "bunny hugger's" fighting management.

Clearly “something” is affecting the deer, javalina and wild turkey population…..
Two explanations come to my mind:
1,- The kind of feeder that only allow deer and bears to eat. (The electronic ones that operate with a clock are better because they spread food for all animals).
2.- Clear abundance of bears that do not have a predator to reduce population.
Well…..,, Another year to recover the will and emotion to come back hunting again.
We did not see any shootable deer.

What is effecting the deer is guys paying to hunt these places. It’s a business. You got to kill a pest and that’s all. Mission accomplished for the business. They got your money. Next victim? Clueless and all fired up for their big hunt. It never ends and these places know it. Same with lease lands that are void of deer. Always the next crew who can’t wait to lease it only to find out it’s garbage. Over and over again. The list of future clients is endless so satisfying clients is moot.
