About the alpha 6 scope....

I will buy a scope from China only if the price is right. I can't see paying $400 and higher for a scope that not made from Japan or the Philippines. Even Philippines/Korea glass is far Superior than China glass. I have a older bushnell legend scope made from the Philippines love that scope!!! Now saw the Alpha 6 review like what I see and the price. Now my question is how is the glass on theses??? How would it compare to other scopes??

Hey man. A lot has changed in scopes in the past 5 years or so. Scope technology has improved leaps and bounds, and we get to sit back and enjoy it. Before that, I would have agreed in a heartbeat on Chinese made scopes. There are still a wide range of scopes made in China, just like car manufacturers make wide ranges of cars (like the Chevette and the Corvette). You can no longer base the decision on low-mid range scopes solely on where they are made. That improvement to Philippine glass we saw back in the day isn’t as obvious anymore.

There are scopes made in China that I would take over Philippine made scopes today. The Vortex Viper line for example, I would gladly take the Athlon Ares likes over the Viper today, but they are very close and there can be disagreement over that.

There are good Chinese scopes in the range you speak of, like the Midas Tac at $500. Very good scope that I would prefer over many $300-400 scopes and even $600-700 scopes. Chinese scopes definitely have place now in the low and mid tier they never had before, but there is still an upper limit, where I would jump to Japanese glass for sure.

As for the AIM scope you also mentioned, people say the glass is good (but I haven’t tried one), and there is a lot more to a scope than glass. You have to decide which parts are important for you. That being said, at a $200 price point, it has enough good comments here that I would try it if it fit the need of one of my rifles.

... I will buy a scope from China only if the price is right.
... Is that a threat?

... I can't see paying $400 and higher for a scope that not made from Japan or the Philippines.
... You will never own a new Japanese glassed scope, unless someone gives you one.

... I have a older bushnell legend scope made from the Philippines love that scope!!!
... Have Picatinny rails on all your rifles, put Picatinny quick release mounts on that Bushnell Legend and move it from rifle to rifle.

... Now saw the Alpha 6 review like what I see and the price. Now my question is how is the glass on theses??? How would it compare to other scopes??
... I always buy used cars and I base my decision to buy them on how clear the glass is. I now have 21 cars piled up on my yard that don’t run anymore. They all had clear glass, I’m at a loss, I just don’t understand.

Really???

This is my second hobby my first hobby cost a lot more than this!!! Lol 😆😆 Jesus Christ just asking a question!!!

Buy the NEW Hawke Frontiers if the Alpha6 is just too cheap for you.

It has the nicest glass I have ever seen in a high dollar Chinese made scope to date.

Don't ever buy nor even look through an alpha6 after that though.

Dont tell any of the hundreds of satisfied Alpha6 owners who click theirs regularly either who are shaking their heads and ROFLOL reading this either.

Just buy any scope you wish at any regular MSRP MAP retail price and you won't feel ripped off as long as you never ever look through an alpha6.

Personally IMHO if the Athlon Midas TAC had the Alpha6 Glass (or NEW Hawke Frontier Glass) and the Alpha6 4.5x - 27x zoom and daytime bright illuminated reticle that's your perfect Chinese clickable scope right there especially if it had the Alpha6 extremely friendly eyebox and comfortably pleasant sight picture.

BTW I do have several of the 5-15x40 Front Focus AO Filipino Bushnell Legend SFP Mildot reticle and they are very nice scopes however the Alpha6 is clearer.

Shop wisely and always buy scopes from return friendly dealers. I suggest buying them all and just return all the ones your eyes don't like it's that simple. Everyone's eyes are different. If you got terrible eyesight you may think the junk grossly overpriced scopes are clear all the way to maximum power too.

Don't need to take my free advice just buy them all for yourself them keep the best mode comfortable ones your eyes prefer. Suggest you at least buy 20 at a time so you can compare them all together side by side.

First thing I do is to crank them to MAX POWER and if they aren't clear automatic return. You really be surprised how many scopes aren't clear all the way regardless of price. I also look for the ones with WHITE Leupold like bright glass without the typical Chinese yellow tint that you see in a lot if expensive ones.

The nicesr Chinese glass (Cherry pick them well my friend!!!) are brighter and clearer than the nowdays Filipino glass too.

Example try to a side by side using an Alpha6 vs a $999.99 Vortex Viper PST Gen2 that's Filipino.

Someone should send Aims company an Athlon Midas TAC and have them at least duplicate the turrets.

Price would probably go up though...

The clicks aren't the Alpha6 strong point.

IMHO if the Alpha6 had the Midas TAC turrets and slightly lighter weight that would be a winner. Doubt the weight because of the illumination hardware.

Now if the Midas TAC had the Alpha6 or HAWKE FRONTIER H7 glass and A6 reticle with daytime bright illumination intensity that's probably your ultimate Chinese scope right there.

I have to say the NEW Hawke Frontier smokes the JAPAN SWFA SS glass so bad it's kinda ridiculous.

I couldn't resist, what you said was just perfect for a comeback!

Don't buy a car just because it has clean windows. Makes sense, no?

My previous hobby buries airguns dollar wise. Airguns are economically a smart move for me comparatively.

Keep on truckin.

Sorry but wasn't looking for smart reply. Just asking a question. I have been enjoying my other hobby for some years now. Just getting back into this hobby. Before the other hobby I had over 60 air rifles most with either Bushnell Elite scopes or legends. A few even had the older Nikko Sterling Target (green)scopes that were made in Japan which was as nice as the Elite scopes. I sold most of my collection to start the other hobby and because I lost my shoot area. Now a few years ago a new shooting range has been built close by now want to get back into air rifles but shooting PCP. Like what Smok3y said things have changed over the years.

NOW I SEE you are used to Japanese glass.

You may be disappointed with MOST scopes costing under $1200 today unless you buy Japanese that retails over $1300 and get a good deal for half price.

Shop smart and please be sure to always buy from return friendly dealers.

I buy ALL DIFFERENT LEVELS OF SCOPES.

I simply don't push scopes that don't seem to have the value that's equal to the price paid.

In your case if you want the Glass you are already used to then the $250 ($499 regular price) Japan Bushnell TAC 5-15x40 AO Mildot or the $229 ($393 regular price) Alpha6 and $899 (that's regular price and don't know anyplace to buy them for cheaper) Hawke Frontier.

You can also buy the JAPAN Crimson Trace 3 series from MidwayUSA for roughly just less than half price $449 ($1099 regular price).

The Sightron S-TAC Filipino made are equal to your Filipino made Bushnell Legend but they are very difficult to see their fine reticles.

The $250 on sale (half price) Japan Bushnell TAC 5-15x40AO Mildot with its SWFA SS-like Japan Glass is an upgrade to your old Filipino Bushnell Legend. The turrets on the Bushnell TAC are also superior as well.
