AA TX200 M3 or the Weihrauch HW97 and others

I have researched that these 2 guns keep showing up in the top 2 , I selected these two as I'm intrigued with the underlever concept keeping the barrel aligned. Also, where did the HW 77 go? was it inferior? Discontinued? Or significantly less powerful than the HW97?

The HW77k guns are still available, i recently purchase a brand new one from AoA, about a month or so ago..
Looks like they are out of stock now and the price has gone up since i bought mine as well...
Nice shooting gun, i just put a Vortek PG 4 Kit in it today as a matter of fact, hopefully the damn weather will finally break here in Texas so i can send some lead down range..

I also have a fully tuned Beeman HW97K i got from Lewis here on AGN, fantastic shooting gun !

There are some significant differences between the TX200 and the HW77/97 guns.
The biggest being the loading gate/breech opening. The TX200 is right or left depending on the gun, and smaller than the HW's, The HW's opening is substantially larger and both right and left ...

Really there isn’t enough difference from ether of them to make an actual difference. Pick the one you like more. You can get the same kits and upgrades for either, the HW will give you more options on appearance, the TX will be slightly smoother from the factory.

I prefer my 97Ks to my TX200s. They were cheaper and I strongly prefer the way they shoulder and balance to the TX200, HC included. Another one worth mentioning (if you can find one) is the LGU. I actually think that one may be the best of the bunch after installing a Rowen trigger kit.

Walther LGU. It was discontinued a few years back but its a great underlever. They pop up in the classifieds fairly often though so you can absolutely find them still. Insanely simple to work on and the shot cycle is basically just a dead slap at 12fpe. The one fault of the LGU is the trigger. It's a good trigger but it doesn't meet the standards of the HWs or AAs. The Rowan kit gets it very close though. I run mine at a clean 9.5oz pull weight.

Have both,if the TX200 was as easy to load as the HW97 it would be better, it is not for me, so I like the 97 better, oh and HW is a .22 which I also like better.

I have only owned TX200’s but if I was to do it over I would buy the HW77, I really like the idea of having iron sites. Scopes can fail but if you have a set of sites for backup you will always be good . In fact I just talked myself into buying one let me shot on over to Air Guns of Arizona.

I'm a PCP guy myself, I have a friend who is limited financially , so they are doing spring / piston guns. They however know NOTHING about airguns. I recently had to service their "great river" gun , I think that's the name. Anyways, it is a certified bottom feeder. Hard to work, no fun to shoot, so I was looking for a replacement. I find the underlever design most appealing. I would also not mind giving up a couple FPE for a smoother shot cycle to improve accuracy. I am also not aware of range effectiveness. A12-14 FPE gun would be good for what? about 30 yards for squirrels? Need info there. Would entertain any brand / model that fits this criteria I did not mention.

40yds and in with a 12ftlb .177 is a good rule of thumb. That being said I've taken them as far as 55yds. My 17fpe .22 97K I've taken squirrels at 70yds but typically stick to 50yds and in still.

A don’t dismiss the 48/52 I’m telling you my tuned 48 177cal gives my untuned HW97k a run for it money !

55 yards for a TX200 is very doable, 55 yards is the max distance for Field Target and it really is not that hard to hit.

I have purchased from both vendors and have had the rifle in three days.

I have both guns , both tuned @ 11.6 FPE . Both very smooth Squirrel killers . I also shoot targets , both shoot 3/8 inch groups out to 60 yards .
I like both BUT if i had only one it would be the TX200 .

I have a 12 year old HW77K in .20 with a ARH vulcan piston seal and ARH spring kit that shoots 800 fps at 4700ft elevation, extremely accurate. The HW77 is second to none.
