AA S510 XS - Chrono tests

These are the first shots out of the gun just about 30 min ago.

One chart is the JSB 15.89gr. They were shot first.

The other is JSB 18.13gr.

I'm going to assume for now that the regulator might take 50 or 100 shots to settle in.

Unfortunately only one of the two magazines will advance under cocking. I don't have time to look into it tonight as I need to be up early for work.

Hello Bob O --=--

For some reason AA has had a string of issues with their magazines of late. A friend just bought a AA Galahad 2 months ago (very nice gun by the way), along with two extra magazines. The two extra magazines lasted a mere 150 shots and cracked across the plastic faceplate. Not even at what you would think is the weakest area, the pellet opening. They broke vertically across the center.

Contacted the seller/vendor and got them replaced, but that took almost a month, which tells a story that they are hard to get because a lot are breaking.

I used to own an AA 510 FAC, which had two factory magazines and four of the RC magazines. The RC magazines worked extremely well, very smooth and very well made. Too bad no longer in business though.

So, check your magazines for cracking, it is a little hard to detect on some, so look closely.

The magazine is not damaged. The one that doesn't index the next pellet is due to it seating too deep/tight and won't let the mag index claw to retract.

It is slight though, as if I tap on the mag I can hear a click and then it will index but then get stuck again. If I seat the mag and then pull outward on it there will be the same click, but it will then cycle each time......mostly.

Hopefully with some use it will become reliable.

You guys know I'm going to tell/give you my honest take on any gun I have. I won't hesitate to post about problems or issues.

As much as I'd like every gun to be perfect, truth is only the Streamline 22 has been without a flaw. But I haven't shot it over the chronograph ever so it might turn out to be not that impressive.

The numbers don't concern me so much, rather it's accuracy and performance in the field that matters most to me. I don't need things to be perfect or the best, but it's nice when they get close to that.

thats pretty good unregulated performance, can you get to the hammer spring easily?

Unfortunately Air Arms doesn't leave much any room for HS adjustment. Transfer port only without disassembly. Also the hammer spring doesn't use a screw for adjustment, though there is room for a shim or two before the gun won't cock. All this is done in an effort to make their guns "tamper proof" when sold in restrictive countries.

Give some time I bet that spread will tighten up and I'll bet that it's a typical Air Arms tack driver. The power is a little better than my s410 and I've been thinking about a shim on the hammer spring but at 28fpe it's hole on hole for 4 mags and don't want to screw it up...lol. Their claiming 44fpe in .25 for XS and I'm so close to pulling the trigger on that one... Anxiously awaiting your review on the .22 though!
