AA S510 regulator?

I'm getting 40 accurate 50yd shots (JSB 10.34gr @880fps) from my S510 .177. How much do you think adding a regulator would improve the shot string? Is this mod a typical DIY project or something best left to an AG shop? I shoot 60-80 shots thru it most every day.

It would improve the shot string for sure and give you more usable shots with a low ES. The only downside with the s510 is no hammer spring adjuster so to find the right hammer tension to work in harmony with the reg. requires a partial strip of the rifle and either shimming or cutting the hammer spring (not likely to get it right on the first try). I would suggest keeping your stock hammer spring intact and buying one or two spares to experiment with.

I have the huma reg in my .22 A510 and stock springs. Tried a few different ones, but came back to stock.

Right now, mine is turned way down to shoot FT (20fpe), reg is set to like 100bar. Shoots very consistent and flat.

When I had it turned up it was doing 860-870fps w/ an 18grain JSB. Reg at 145bar.

I'm quite pleased with it.

I definitely recommend doing a regulator, it improves the gun a LOT.

I will keep this short as I could go on for a long time about this.

Shot count drastically improved, extreme spread is hugely improved.
For my .22 I get up to 55 shots at 33 fpe. when starting at a higher fill pressure of 250 bar with an extreme spread of 13 fps.
I did more than just installing the regulator, I did a lot of tuning on it to get the most out of it.

Watch videos by Matt Dubber, he is a member here and a great resource he also did quite well this year at extreme benchrest.
I have a 3 page thread on another forum, that culminates all that I learned from other peoples work and gave me great results.

I'd be careful about overfilling your tube. I've seen the results of a tube filled to 3500psi and the owner wasn't happy. While you may not have had any problems yet, it may not be the best idea to tell others to ignore the manufacturers suggested fill pressure.

OK so I think the benefits of installing a regulator and tuning is a project worth perusing. After watching several vids, I am also absolutely sure that there ain't no way I'm goin to attempt this myself (no mechanical wizard here). Where would you recommend I send the gun to have this type of work done? Thanks again for your help.

Are you on the west coast John? i would recommend sending it to Motorhead (Scott) to have it regged and tuned.

I would also recommend Motorhead, I learned a lot about the tuning of the S510's from his threads and he is very familiar with the Air Arms rifles.
He would be my first choice. 
I am sure there are many others, but after doing a lot of research I learned a lot from reading his comments.
