A VERY Surprising Slug Gun....

Hi Guys,

Well the weather is finally is giving us a little break in Texas today so I loaded up a couple of mags with the FX Hybrid slugs and headed out to do a little shooting.

I initially wanted to test these in my Uragan , and I did for 1 mag, they shot decent , but they felt tight loading into the breech so I stopped ...

Now to the Surprise , I went back and scooped up my trusty BSA R10mkii and said what the hell lets just see what she's got... loaded up a mag and racked it up and i'll be damned if the slugs just went into the breech like butter...Fired off a shot at my test target at 50 yds and holy poop not bad, ran down stuck 2 new targets on the board and here are the results

I was going to fart around with chrony and speeds and such , but poop after these shots , why? ...Lol

Anyway just thought i would share and see what ya'll thought ..

Just some info, the gun is set up for jsb 18.13's @ 875fps , it is Huma regulated... I did nothing to it but re-zero for the slugs...

Oh, dat is vewy nice shooting you done there. Looks like the gun likes those slugs very much. Congrats on finding some great ammo.

I just ordered some of the H&N Slugs, we'll see how those do in this old gun too.

I will get some chrony numbers and accuracy results with and with out doing any tuning ..

lets see how bad I can screw up a great shooter... ( you can bet I will damn sure get the baseline as is 1st ).. !!

Wow! That gives me hope for my old SuperTen with the FX slugs. I'm thinking the barrels are probably similar.

I am not at all surprised. Out of all I’ve owned my BSA S10 was the most accurate. There is a magic to those BSA barrels. Too bad they don’t make one in .30.

BSA uses a cold hammer forged barrel. they were known not to be to fussy with ammo. mine shot at least 6 different pellets well.

My Scorpion 1200 SE shot them just as good as your R10.

The S10 was a fantastic gun with one of the best barrels ever produced (albeit a brick once fitted with a 400cc bottle/ quickfill etc). I believe it is still a favourite among the serious power tuners out there.

If I recall although made on the original machines better quality steel was used on the early S10 compared to the later offerings, dont know if that was due to the steel industry in the UK or Gamo's involvement with the company...

Not saying there is anything wrong with the R10's/ scorpions/ ultra's they are great guns, just that as with a lot of things manufactured here in the UK trading on old brand names, I understand production costs were steamlined and quality dipped....
