A newbies opinion...and grattitiude for the forum rules.

So recently I've seen a couple posts complaining about the ten post rule before you can send pm's and buy stuff off the classifieds.
My experience: When I first joined, that was part of the driving factor. Found a classified for an air gun that I thought I really wanted. The more I researched and learned, the more I realized that that particular choice would have been serious overkill for my skill level, what I'm willing to invest in time beyond regular maintenance and minor modifications and what i really want to get out of air gunning. So basically, that ten post rule saved me from a $1400 mistake. My suggestion, unless you're already an air gun expert, take your time, learn as much as you can and ask questions. You'd be surprised at just how much your whole thought process about air guns and shooting changes.

This hobby/sport/passion/curse/addiction isn't cheap, there are many factors, choices, and features that will have a direct effect on your wallet, and enjoyment. Look at the time spent with the 10 posts rule, as a time invested into the future of your experience. Do research, take advantage of the resources AGN and other forums talk to others, so you can make the most educated purchase.

That's true. They just have to get in line, follow the rules and we will gladly accept the money.
when I got here I had to wait in the same line, yet I was and still am far from a Newby to Benchrest, Gunbuilding, Accuracy products, Machining etc. just a newby to this site. A ten post learning curve does nothing to a seasoned veteran except make them post ten things that get them through the so called curve.

I’d be willing to bet that 1400 dollar “mistake” is in your future if you stick around the hobby at all. Lol. I don’t understand all the flak the rules gets. It keeps the classifieds from getting all mucked up. Imagine the BS pms you would get from scammers and bots as a seller. If you don’t know what I mean list a for sale ad on Craigslist. It is so easy to get ten posts. So easy and if you really like airguns why wouldn’t you want to hang around and participate here ?

Already made that mistake with my less lethal stuff. Wasn't quite $1400, close though ....lol

Saw those posts as well. Being a new guy on this forum I understand the need to weed out new accounts that may be here to scam members or add no value to the forum. Some of the posts that I’ve read makes the new member sound entitled. If it were me I’d just block them completely
You're a better man than me...I read em and laugh at em...lol
