A new to me possible scam, what do you think?

Same thing happened to me. Told by a "new temporary member" to email Steven John.. He has what I'm looking for. Smells bad from the start. I can tell when I get a sucker on the hook.They have that certain stench. So I've been keeping the wing wang busy for three days with stupid questions etc. The idiot thinks I'm going to send money. HA! Endless emails and he is going to get nothing. Keep those suckers busy!

This is nothing new. Look at all the same post to different members saying to...
"Contact Steven in New Jersey. He has one for sale. [email protected]"
whenever someone post a WTB thread in the Classifieds. Buyer beware. Don't get suckered in.

I was looking for a gun. In a PM they both said to contact someone else giving me the runaround. both had joined only one day ago, with no history on AGN.

I took a chance and bought one of the Willams sights, like on a Crosman 2300 from jonpol , a member here with relatively few posts. He suggested two ways of payment, paypal regular or F&F, I chose F&F figuring to save him a little and me a little. It all worked out fine, I was a little apprehensive until I saw an email with tracking number.

I've made a few purchases from people advertising F&F only. I just ask if they're OK with a 'normal' payment where I add the 3% that it would otherwise cost them. Legit sellers never object to this (and no one I've asked has minded) - they just want the full price in their pocket rather than PayPal's. Under those conditions I don't mind doing business. As I said, I've never had a seller object, and I've never been burned (fingers crossed).
All that said - "Contact So-and-so he has one..." is a scam, pure and simple.

I listed a WTB ad today looking for a LDC, I received a PM from Jude444:

I replied saying no thanks, I don't do business with scammers!
My ad even stated I would only buy direct from AGN Members, not their brothers, cousins, uncles, or close friends, and scammers need not respond! I guess it didn't work!

Same guy same mo definitely a scam. I have bought from AGN members. With a history and are willing to talk on phone. After yo talk to someone for a few you can tell.

My very first screening rule of thumb is will they talk on the phone to me. I would say it gets rid of 98.7% of scammy
