A Murder of Crows

Crows are smart, so you can use that intelligence against them. Not only do they quickly learn to distinguish dangerous humans from others, but recognize the dangerous human and teach other crows. It's true; though scientists studying them still can't figure out how.

Say a murder witnesses you kill one while wearing a hat. Not only will the witnesses recognize you in that hat and (somehow) teach non-witnesses, that hat itself might be a pretty good scarecrow even without you in it.

We shoot hundreds of then here in the uk, yes crows are clever the trick is to be more clever. With the farmers permission build a hide and leave it in situ for a week. Arrive early morning before the crows are active and settle down for a wait. I recommend a low powered pcp with a quality silencer, the muted muzzle report and soft impact from the pellet will not spook them too much. The bodies of the first few drive the crows nuts causing them to circle and land. You should be able to get about a dozen before the dead bodies scare them off. Only then go out to retrieve them, picking up the carcasses will allow the crows to gain confidence and return.

Check out my mate Martin Youtube posts, “Notts pest control“ , he does an excellent job of keeping crows, magpies, squirrels and rabbits numbers down with a sub12fpe airgun.

The pop from an expanding slug as it blows the crow to pieces from a high powered pcp is loud enough scare everything within a 1/2 radius, however, with a pellet from a sub12fpe airgun it is not uncommon to get multiple kills before they become aware something is wrong.
