A little extra hush

As my heading says,

I'd like to put a moderator on my factory taipan standard .22 CAL for a little more pfft. 

I've looked at Donny fl Tatsu

And Huggett Mini Magna,

the dfl is a bit shorter at 4.25" vs Huggett at 5".

Any opinions or other suggestions...?

Just looking to be as quiet as possible at my speed setting since I've got good power and excellent accuracy as it is.

I have a Donnyfl Sumo on my long and the hammer and pellet impact make the most noise. 6.25 inches.

I like, you try to get the quietest moderator on my Taipan. I have a STO Falx moderate flow and its the quietest. I have tried a donny sumo, hugget magna, & 0db.

BTW my Taipan is shooting 25.39 @ 920 fps.

I have both the Tatsu and sumo in .25/.30 cal.

I use the Tatsu on my .22 Crown mk2 and the Sumo on my .25 Taipan Veteran Long. While the Tatsu will take the noise level down some, the Sumo is quieter. It depends on sound level vs length tolerance you have. Here is a little comparison photo of the on the Taipan. 

If length and weight of suppressor is not an issue recommend the Sumo over the Tatsu, as even on the .22 crown it is the quieter option. 

I can't comment about the Huggett, but it is about internal volume. So if you look at the Donnyfl Fx suppressor with dimensions 1.36 x 5" and Tatsu with 1.6 x 4.25, the Tatsu has more internal space to dissipate air going through.

I have the mini magna on my 25 shorty...little quieter than the tatsu,similar to a sumo.But I would second the STO falx. Very quiet!

There's two different diameters of the Huma (30mm and 40mm) suppressor. And the best thing is, they come in sections, so you can actually change the sound with more or less sections.

Defferently check out what STO has to offer. I use three Falixs currently. I'm getting ready to set up a new gun, K1 in .177. I bought a Humma 40 for it but having second thoughts about it. I'm thinking about the STO Accipiter, a light weight Sarissa.

First your post doesn’t list your caliber. I find in my .22’s at round 30-35fpe the Donny FL 1.36x5 is more than adequate for sound reduction. When I’m shooting the .25cal 45fpe to get the same sound reduction I use my Sumo or 0db which is larger. When I mean adequate the pellet striking target makes more noise. Good luck

Okay my bad, they're on a .177 Gladius, .22 SK19 and a .25 K1 currently all are tuned to 900 fps range.

1 1/4" Stainless thin wall tubing, lined with a layer of closed loop indoor / outdoor carpet it contains no baffles. Just a big chamber volume with a sound deadening medium.

Do you want one moderator for all three or one for each? .177 any you named would work.. Next going to .22 I like the DonnyFL FX= 1.36”x5” it works on all my sub 40fpe rifles. Don’t have any moderators in the 1.22” diameter so can’t comment on those. When I go above 40fpe on my .22 or .25-.30cal the Sumo or the 0db 160S works great for my ears. YMMV

if I was looking for just one I’d get the Sumo in .25 it will work great on all your calibers. Good luck.

If you're like me, I want the shortest, fattest silencer I could get. Trying to keep the bullpup short, but have as much volume as possible. Donny is coming out with a 2" x 4.25" silencer here in a month or so. That's what I'm going to put on my Veteran.

This is the Hugget Atom its less than 3" and very quiet. I have a 177 Huntsman with a 6" Hugget on it. That is also very quiet. These two are comparable in the noise category. I like that the diameter is about the same as the Taipan shroud. Personaly I think it looks better than any other moderator on a Taipan. And its quiet

Are you concerned with size and weight also, or just the noise level? I had a Sumo and a .22 Taipan Mutant and a Ronin on a .25 Veteran. Both were quiet, but they were heavy and it looked like a had soup cans on the ends of the barrels. I switched to a Huggett Belitta on both. The Belitta is shorter and lighter and almost the same diameter as the Taipan shroud. The guns look a lot more "normal" now. Both are also quieter. I'd like to try a Huggett Atom, it's a couple inches shorter at 3", than the Belitta. YMMV. BTW, this is in no way a knock on the DonnyFl units. I just want the streamlined look
