Nice shooting and you had a gorgeous day also. I see you had a DS Regal XL.

I have a .22 Regal XL unregulated and I really do like your wood stock. Was that custom, or did it come like that? Assume it is Walnut but I like the darker color. Mine is nice too, but it is a lighter grain Walnut. Not complaining, I just like your deeper color. Also, is that a bug buster scope?

As an aside, I got a gray squirrel yesterday at 36.5 yards half way up a tree with JSB 15.89. I aimed at his neck I thought, and when I went to pick him up I saw that the pellet went into his midsection, which is not what I wanted. My bad, but with the Leupold Duplex reticle ( and no hash marks ) I misjudged the drop. Not used to shooting pests beyond 20-25 yards, so I have some target practice ahead of me.

I have been looking to buy a range finder for a long time so I treated myself yesterday and went to BassPro and got a Nikon Monarch 3000 IS range finder on sale for $367. Came back to the house and did a "range find" on the tree and branch, which is the only way I was sure it was 36.5 yards. Funny, I thought it was further than that and I was surprised it was only 36 yards. For me, this is a long shot for squirrels as most come into my backyard and are taken anywhere from 10-20 yards, 90% of the time. Curious to know how far your squirrel was away and what pellet size were you using?

Again, nice shooting!

Thanks

Hey TommyB.

My regal is also unregulated. The stock is just standered. I was lucky to get it I guess. I have oliled it a bit which seems to help with the richer looking shine. My scope just a UTG 3-12 x 40. It does have mill dots and a side parlax adjuster. It was on sale for like 160$ when I got my gun from AOA. Sounds like you got a good range finder. I also just picked one up. It’s a must have for shots past 40 yards. I have been shooting JSB 18gr. They have a bit more killing power then the 15gr. My gun also does ok with crossmen hollow points as well. Most of my shots are a 50 yard max. At 50 I’m a half mil low for my 20 yard zero. But I did test and record my hold over out to 115 yards. Because I hunt mostly wooded areas I don’t shoot much past 50 yards because visibility.
