A fine day to shoot. Decided to give the R9 another try.

I got this beautiful rifle last month. Mike at flyingdragon did a masterful job tuning it, feels great, love the Rekord trigger.

Here she is posin' in my little shootin' corner.

I took the shroud off my Diana 34 and put it on the Beeman. Looks better and a nice place to grip. I hear tell it can also reduce barrel vibrations. Doesn't seem to choke the noise or affect the aim, so it's a wash there.

Ammo I tried today. Both about the same accuracy, as with JSBs last post. The heavier ones, 9.5x, although a bit quieter, seem to be, oh, "rougher"? on the gun, like it doesn't fire quite as smoothly with them. I feel some torque. JSBs were too loose, probably just 4.50, whereas these two are 4.51 and 4.52. Both a nice solid fit.

Gotta say tho', still ain't LOVING it. Friggin' great gun, very accurate, no news there. It's just too dang short for me. Stock doesn't even reach my shoulder proper. Shortest rifle I own in fact. Wish I had one to borrow and try first. But not much airgunners around me to share the joy. And I ain't returning it, that just ain't right. Not like Mike's makin' a killing on them either.



Anyway, hell, bigger guys than me said it fit them fine. Thought I'd be set.

Yet I feel more like this...

Whatchall think would be a good replacement? Maybe I can find a fine trade. 46-48" overall break-barrels seem to fit me best. This one's 42, smaller than some folks waistline.

I only kill targets. All positions, but mostly benchrest. 25-yards is my daily shootin', but would like a solid 50-yard sub-MOA ninja. Kinda like this R9 I'm sure is.

This Walther Parrus fits like a glove, but ugh, like every Umarex gun I've owned, it's already falling apart, with less than 2k shots through it.

48" long, w/o the muffler. Long thick stock, love that muscular foregrip. My XL hands place nicely on this one.

It is, almost 46" long, that's a good size I think. About the smallest length I've liked.

The Diana 34 .22 in the collection is 45". It's a skinny stock on that sucker, but almost fits me. Honestly more a pleasure to shoot than the R9, but eh, wanted a .177 racecar.

I’m a shot gunner (as well as air guns) and gun fit is critical to success at the clay target sports. Adding length, cast, drop to a stock is something a good gun fitter does everyday. Sorry I don’t have contact information but I lived in the Northwest for a long time and there, or were two stock fitters with good reputations in the Portland area. Maybe you can google them or if not call Mid-Valley Clay Target Sports in Salem and ask them for recommendations. Anyone who can fit a shotgun can do a rifle especially if all you need is a longer butt pad.

Stocker John or Moe Bragg are the two who used to be the go to guys in that area.

I have R9 in .20,and with most of my rifles it has an adjustable buttpad on it,which also helps to take pressure off my long neck.

Will worth the money and effort to get one,it is probably the best mod to have for comfortable shooting..

You need a rifle with over a 17 inch length of pull?

Just curious, have you put the r9 side by side with a rifle that fits you better and compared the differences? Overall length can be from different parts-barrel, action, etc. I know you know this, but it would be nice if you could post a pic so we can see the difference too.

Not sure LOP (trigger to butt) is the issue. The R9 is just a bit over 14. But so is about everything I have.



But the other half, trigger to end of foregrip, 17-18" seems right. The others, less fitting, tend to be around 14-15".

Seems a longer, thicker fore-end is my joy. On the R9, my hand wants to go under just behind where the rear sights would be. That open area. The Parrus on the other-hand, well, you can see.

Sorta funny.
My main issues with springers are. 
To long and to heavy. Not that I can’t handle the size and weight. Just to bulky for my taste.
but then again I’m 5’ 6” and 160 lbs

Perhaps I need to look into the R9

I hate that you're not loving your R9. Send me your recoil pad and I'll grind you a Bisley adjustable butt pad for free! I have a spare. I need to know the dimension in inches from heel to toe of the WOOD though first to make sure it'll fit. I can give you some hints to install so it fits as close to perfect as possible being as I won't have the stock so I can fit/mark/grind/fit/mark/grind/fit the pad to the stock myself.

Thanks ChrisK, I do appreciate the offer. I did that with another break-barrel so it would seat into my shoulder just right.

I've just not wanted to mess with with the R9 quite that much, right out of the box. I'm sure that'll help with LOP.

Right now, have to really hug the gun, push my shoulder really far forward, to get it to seat in my shoulder at all.

If I'm using a rest, that's fine. But sometimes I wanna shoot with both arms.

Doesn't really NEED to, as I can just rest it on my hand and groups beautifully.

Or a tuned Diana 34 Classic. 3" shorter, 1/2" thinner than the R9/HW95. Light, accurate, and will last forever I'm told.

OK, now I get it. It's not the lop but the shortness of the front end that you don't like. I can see that if you're used to gripping it further out. We all have our likes and preferences.
