A dozen rats today...

Shot a dozen rats today at ranges from 10-40 yards. The Bantam took 9, the pp700sa took 3. When I went to retrieve rats I carried the pp700sa for the close range work. I was only able to retrieve 9. As you can see from two of the pics, they’re shot right on top of their holes.

@wahoowad, these are daytime rats, the light on the pp700sa is for those dark recesses in the barn/building. But yes, I still step in the cow poo quite often. Am trying to work up the energy to go do some night ratting at a different dairy.

Wish I could find a ratting permission but there aren't many that I know of up this way.

Gosh that's an excellent day and two guns for the total, very cool. I've never had a 'dozen day' with rats and likely will never.

I have the PP700 S-A in .22 and have NEGLECTED it since the arrival of a Prophet Perf. Compact.

@mikehunt, thanks, the rats were cooperative. I also missed three opportunities, was too slow to react. The pp700sa is sweet for me sub 25 yards for a while it was my number one rat killer. Hundreds of rats have fallen to it. Many times when going to retrieve rat carcasses I will run into rats too close for the Bantam. The pp700sa handles the close quarter kills.

I applaud your diligence, and destruction of all rats. I don’t think I could do it. I think about it, but I don’t want to go into their house. And I could never go and retrieve them. Kind of like the irrational fear of snakes I used to have. That’s why I don’t respond to Rat  kills as often. Horrible animals.

Mike, long handled grabbers do all the retrieving. These are daytime rats, at night they really give me the wllies, but that's part of the fun. Once had a dead rat jumped out of the bucket I was carrying. Dropped the bucket and ran like a chicken.

Thanks to you I brought my PP700 S-A (FrankenPistol) back to shooting life and I am printing some paper with it now.

I love shooting rats, I have a few visiting under my feeder occassionally, I wsh I had more

caught this one with my trail cam, I killed him later that day. He was big as a squirrel!

@bckyrdsnpr52 Maybe do some exploring with Google Earth etc to look for some dairies in your area. I am sure they will have rats they want to get rid of at the dairy.

@bckyrdsnpr52, that is a big rat, be careful what you wish for. Given a choice I rather not have them on my property. Like @blackpaw, suggested look for dairies, poultry farmers, or any other type of livestock operations near you.

Fear to snakes and crocodiles is not irrational. 

There's no way to negotiate with them !!!!
