A day shooting 25yd BR with the RAW HM1000 .20 BLUE BEAST

Chas,

. It is a HM 1000 without a safety so I can still use the.magazines if I wanted to.

I have often wondered, Why exactly do they remove the safety on the TM1000 and BM1000 rifles? In the RAW trigger cassette, the safety just captures the trigger blade, it makes no difference to the way the trigger operates when the safety is disengaged.

The pellet probe on a TM is a better design than the HM probe for target shooting, it seats the pellet better and seals on the breech better too. I have swapped over the probe on my target rapids for a TM style even though it IMO the rapid probe is better than the HM probe.

What magazine are using in your RAW, is it a single loader?

BP I am useing a single shot tray.

Ok, I knew it wasn’t a RAW mag.

if you are using your RAW purely for bench rest then I would recommend changing the probe and try loading the pellets by hand. This may sound OTT but bench rest is won or lost by fractions on a millimetre, ensuring the pellet gets seated into the barrel in the best condition it can be, makes a difference.

good luck

Kdog the way that gun shoots I wouldn’t change a damn thing! Obviously Martin knows what he’s doin

Yes I typically am not one to change much on my guns other that adjusting trigger if needed or slightly changing the hammer spring tension. I'm much better at shooting than I am at working of things. Lol. Today I had a.problem with my Thomas and.had.to make a long trip to someone that I trust to fix it. Case in point .

Kdog,

Do you happen to know what kind of .20 barrel you've got in the RAW? (LW, HW, poly vs traditional cut rifling, choke or no, etc?)

Very good shooting, by the way.

I bought this rifle off the original owner but I believe it's a regular LW barrel. I may be wrong but I do not believe they make a poly barrel in .20? It shoots lights out and has since ive had it. I also do not know if the barrel is chocked or not...perhaps if you call Martin at Airguns-USA he would know...he is the former owner of RAW who built it a few years ago. The JSB 13.7 pellets are the only pellets I have ever shot out if it and only at 20ft lbs which equates to 800fps.

Here is a pic of a 5 shot 50yd group I shot with it off a bench in some wind believe it or not when I first got the rifle. This rifle has a ever growing list of people that have told me that they want to buy it lol. 2 guys from our club shot their first 250 bench rest cards with it within the last 2 weeks so it shoots well no matter whose behind the trigger. I think Martin Rutherford would make you one with these same specs if you called him at Airguns -USA and told him what you wanted. As you know .20 is that odd ball caliber but in my experience it certainly is a very capable caliber.

Sincerely, Kdog

Thanks Keith.

I've got a .20 on my Raptor. I wanted a poly but the guys at JSAR told me the same thing you did, no polys in that caliber. None listed in LW website either. I even tried to see if Tim McMurray at MAC1 could somehow get one, nope. Mine is choked. It has shot some quite impressive groups too, but nothing quite at the level of your blue beast.

Very cool gun, again, thanks for sharing.

Nice shooting Keith! I might not even try pcp next weekend.

Does your RAW have a tensioned barrel? By that I mean, does the shroud screw on to the stripper at the end of the barrel and then put force on the block. Mine does and it tends to shift POI a lot. I am not sure how to stop it. Not a problem for BR, but field target is no go.

Dan

Dan yes the shroud actually does screw into the stripper that is attached to the end of the barrel but there isn't much tension on the receiver end of the shroud.

Scott..yes I agree this is one laminate stock that is full of character. I refinished it and it POPS more now that I put 8 coats of minwax antique on it after sanding it to 800 grit.
